Hamonic rescinds trade request
Oilers nation (the site), is pushing the idea of the Oilers acquiring Justin Faulk from Carolina or signing Demers as a UFA

Yeah but in typical Oilers Kool-Aid fashion they expect Faulk + for one of their prized 6x6 players when in reality it would be the other way around.

I have a funny feeling that the general cluelessness among Oilers fans regarding what players around the league are worth is mainly due to how clueless the Oilers media machine is regarding the same topic. The No Good starts at the top and just filters down.

Why would a well developing team give up one of the highest scoring young D in the league for anything? That's literally the hardest thing to find. Why not talk about acquiring Doughty if we're going all in on impossible trades?
Demers is realistic but doesn't really solve any problems. I think the issue now is everyone is always trying to outsmart everyone and pick the underrated players and create value. The thing is, Carolina knows what they have. The rest of the league may not have caught on, but they certainly know how good he is

Oilers fans, reporters and fan sites all make the bad assumption that you can trade for a young, top 3 defenseman. There may be none of them available this summer. Unless they are willing to part with Draisaitl+ and overpay for one.
Hamilton being available was a rare occurrence that shouldn't and doesn't happen very often. No team is lining up to trade young, top 3 d-men.
I'm hoping they can't find one and decide they have to draft one.

They will probably target Vatanen and try and sign Demers. I don't know who else is available.

WRONG! The oilers picked up Reinhart last year and he has to be considered a top 3 worst deals ever made at the draft

This is all true, BUT, 5 young top 3 Dmen have been traded or available in the last calendar year, and the oilers being the team with the most need in the league by a long shot got 0 of them.
It is a bad combo for that team of thinking certain players hold trade value and mediocre to poor management.

It's funny how oiler fans were saying how great he was going to be. A couple oiler fans I know were even trying to defend Reinhart by the end of the season.
I'm so glad Hamonic isn't going there, he's exactly what that team needs and realistically, he'd be their #1 guy they could build the back end around.

He's one of Paul Reinhart's top 3 sons.

"If Calgary did it, why the heck can't we? Yeah!"
Bunch of no goods.

What's even funnier is that Connor is just sitting there when they trade the pick. So obviously he wasn't as attractive to them as Reinhart. Just fail scouting all around. Now you couldn't trade Reinhart for Connor nevermind the 2nd rounder they just flushed down the toilet. Hilarious.

Well Lindholm isn't going anywhere unless the Ducks lose their minds. He is what the Oilers desperately need but IMO probably the most untouchable of the young Ducks d-men.
Is Vatanen really the missing link for EDM? He would help their powerplay but I think they still would be missing true top pairing defensemen.

If they were willing to offer sheet Dougie, I wonder if they'll be willing to offer sheet Lindholm?
