Huh. We walked into the line for the 3:30 show at 3:10. Had no problem at all getting a seat. The stadium is HUGE--so while the line-up looks long, they have room for it. And people were still getting in right until almost show time.

I would definitely go with the family if they had some events on the May or September long weekend or something.
Go to Strathmore on the August long weekend.

Strathmore is cancelled this year I think. The economy is too crappy.

I'm wrong. That was a rodeo scheduled earlier this year that was cancelled.

That is what I was hoping for but we showed up a little after 10 for the 10:30 show and it was full and the line up for 12:30 went all the way around the dog bowl and was doubling back on itself. I waited in line for about 10 minutes and decided I wasn't going to stand there for another 1.5 hours.

Not according to their website.

I fulfilled my yearly obligation, I went to the grounds. Bought my home lotto tickets, had a super duper corn dog, a lamb meat wrap and then finished off Stampede with a bag of mini donut.

During the thunderstorm on Saturday we went and watched the motocycles and snowmobiles jumping show which was pretty awesome.

Then I realized that I spent about 60 bucks in a little over an hour and said the same thing I say every year on the way home. Man I'm not going back next year.

Then I went home that night and had bad food created night sweats and nightmares.

This lineup to get in was a disaster this year.

Blink was great but Skiba is no DeLonge.

That line was stupid insane. I got in no problem arriving at 6pm, but I heard that people that got in the line at 6:30pm (doors opened at 6pm) that even had tickets got turned away because they sold way over capacity and wouldn't let them in and gave no f***s about it.

Skiba is no DeLonge for sure, but I felt he pulled it off really well for the most part. I was skeptical going in how they would sound. But came out of that show as happy as I could be seeing two of my favorite bands I grew up listening to!

Those people probably had the free promotional tickets that were had to be in before 7 or something.

We got off the train at 7:10 and got in line pretty much at the train station. We were in by 7:45 or so with no issue.

Awe gotcha, that's probably it. Because even around 7:45pm when I moved from the back outside area to the stage Cowboys didn't seem to be at full capacity. Had plenty of room to move around.

Yah there was a big hold up when we got to the front as there was a group of like 12 arguing with security and then got kicked out of line. No one went in for like 10 minutes during that time.

It's definately more subdued this year understandably. Here at work we have cancelled all our events this year (customer events and our internal employee breakfast) and our sales guys have been told no big spending this year on clients (rodeo tickets etc.). Attendance at the grounds seems to be holding up but my kids work in the Grandstand and say it has been quieter this year than last on most of the nights so far this year.

This is the first year that we will not be going. It is just to expensive and it is always the same thing (mainly). I just cannot justify the amount of money for a family of 4 anymore.

I had a great time at Cowboys on Friday night. Other than the rodeo and agricultural exhibitions, I enjoy the off-grounds Stampede experience much more. The Stampede grounds seem to attract every lowlife loser from Southern Alberta for some reason.

This.
All the bars and nightclubs in Calgary are awesome this time of year and Cowboys tent is probably the mecca of the party. Why waste time at a crappy beer gardens on the grounds that serves 2 different choices of piss for beer and is mostly made up of people who don't have interest in bars.

I actually just randomly showed up right before Blink got on stage. I had no idea they were playing and a friend invited me to Cowboys. I show up, "Oh s***." $150 bucks and 5 minutes later Blink went on stage.

There was no line at that time. I wouldn't have seen them otherwise. I'm glad I went, it was a good show.

I've never seen them live before, but from I've seen from video footage, the new guy's voice blows DeLonge out of the water. Always hated his voice.

I love how the Stampede is making it seem like they're showing how much they appreciate the community by slashing admission to $5 between 5-7 pm for a second straight day.

They're desperate after attendance is down and the weather is terrible. It has nothing to do with showing appreciation to Calgary and I really wish they'd stop BSing us.
