It just didn't seem like he was very interested in finding out if there was another version of the story.

Many people on Reddit do a much, much better job than her in terms of actual quality. Her's were all 10 fps and tiny, whereas people like Galaxy for the Flames spits out 60fps 1280x720 webms in the same turn around time.
She was popular because she posts them to Twitter too so the media picks up on them.

You guys haven't put him on ignore yet? Get with the times!
As to this topic, it's quite confusing as to what's being reported. All I know is that if the NHL does end up trying to shut down gifs, good luck with that! Will never happen.
Also as an aside after seeing the NHL's new website/data layout, I trust them with nothing technology related. Wow. I can't even figure out how to watch full game highlights on their site.
Then again I am not a smart man.

The biggest issue with highlights on the NHL website is the ads.
"Oh you want to watch a 30 second highlight of our NHL product, sit through 2 minutes of commercials first before you get to watch it."

I click on goal clips from the boxscores on nhl.com all the time and never see ads.

And even if you do you could fast forward the ads and then don't have to watch them. The only good thing about the new site are the videos.

I appreciated the smaller gifs as they usually got the same point across without killing the data plan on my phone. Webm is nice but at that resolution and framerate it's still going to be pretty big.
The other thing is she'd likely be shut down much more quickly if she was doing super high quality stuff too.

There's only one way to fix this.
Everyone must start creating and posting NHL GIFs.

I'm surprised the NHL allows individual teams to use GIFs of TV shows/movies if they are going to take this stance.

Probably more to this overall.
My guess is the NHL reached out to her to say she couldn't be asking for donations for her gifs since her receiving payment would then infringe on the copyrights.
NHL likely offered her a job to make gifs for them, payment was probably really ####ty and she refused.
So then the NHL said she either had to stop making the gifs or stop receiving donations, and then she decided that she wasn't going to do it for free and was going to stop doing it since the NHL told her she couldn't.
And then we are at the stand still where we are at now where technically neither side is lying. The NHL has no issue with people posting gifs (as long as they are not receiving compensation for it), and @myregularface is still accurate in saying they told her to stop making gifs (in exchange for donations).

Agreed. But when i am catching up on things in the Dome, using my data plan to do so, Stephanie's 10FPS, 6 second clips were perfect. When I am on Reddit, I'm browsing from my computer, and want that extra quality. There's room for both, I think.

Get out of here with your "grey" nuanced analysis. Either she is a profiteering money grubber or the NHL is satan. Pick a side.
