If Calgary never wins again I sincerely hope Canada's cupless steak lasts forever.

Agreed. I couldn't care less about the cup being in Canada if it's not Calgary. I hate all the other Canadian teams besides Ottawa to be honest and even Ottawa is getting on my nerves because their fans still think that Stone is comparable to Gaudreau.

I think fans in any city that really support a team and come out in numbers are deserving whether its Canada or America. I just see many empty seats in places like Anaheim last night and wonder how many people really care when they win. A loud sold out building is far better for the game overall then a quiet somewhat enthusiastic but not nearly full arena. Anaheim and other teams that are consistently doing well should be sell out or close to sell out. The leafs have sold out for years with barely a sniff of the playoffs, fans like that are committed and should eventually be rewarded. Fans in a US city like Philly which are loud and into the game should also be rewarded from time to time, not just a Canadian team thing but a good fan base thing.

That's one reason I've never been sorry to see Chicago win. They've got some monster fans there.

I guess now they do, but how many are legit fans? Where were they during the dark years under Dollar Bill Wirtz?

This is something that always drives me crazy. I honestly cannot stand bandwagon fans. With all the Clueless white girls and ###### Bros who have no idea about what their "favorite team" is made up of or the history of the organization.

Just like how Calgarypuck asks a skill testing question to become a member, so should fandoms. If you cant tell me your thoughts on the legacy of dollar bill wirtz then you cant be a fan.

A lot of them were going to Wolves games, or cheering for teams that actually gave a crap and were trying to win. Old man Wirtz did everything he could to drive fans away – so away they went. Being a sports fan is not like joining the army, you know. You are not legally or morally obligated to stick with it until somebody kills you.

I guess that means nobody under 18 can ever be a Hawks fan again, then.

True, I'm not saying you have to stick with your team through everything, and as you mentioned Wirtz acted in such a way as to drive fans away, but at the same time its frustrating to see people who jump on teams only when they are successful only to through them by the wayside when they start to decline, a perfect example is the amount of Pittsburgh fans around in the mid 2000's I wonder how many of them rep the red, white, and black or gray and black now. There is something to be said for the loyalty leafs fans have when their team plays so poorly.

Just because you were not around for it does not mean you cannot have a valid and informed opinion on it. I might not have been cognisant of the world around me at the time but I can still look back and have an informed opinion on the Gilmour/Leeman trade

No and never get over it. It's a fraud that they won. That puck crossed the line, the Flames won!

It's actually pretty sad that not one single Canadian team made it this year. The National on CBC actually reached out to us yesterday and did an interview with my business partner regarding this very topic. He appears at the 1:27 mark.
