If he wasn't who he was, he'd be getting the Raffi Torres treatment at this point. Should sit for the season, but he won't.

FWIW on WGN news tonight it said that the Blackhawks will be without their number one defenceman for a while. Sounds like even Chicago sports are expecting a lengthy suspension.

That ten games all day given his history. That said, Because it's the Blackhawks and Keith it will be 2 or 3. He'd be out for 20 if Coyle had been hurt.

Would be amazed if he missed a playoff game. He deserves too, but I doubt it'll happen.

Keith is one of the best defencemen in the game, but also one of the dirtiest. I really can't stand him and some of the Chicago players who don't seem to have that respect for others.

He's a star in the league. He'll get 2 games, maybe 1.

That's only for the money the player forfeits while suspended. Prior acts are still taken into consideration for suspensions.

If it was me, I'd suspend him for 8 games, the rest of the season + games 1-2-3 of round one.

I've always thought Keith is a dirty player. The last 2 games only supports that.

My first mistake was believing that Doug MacLean knew what he was talking about.

Duncan Keith is such a prick.
I mean, given the Carter incident which is basically the same exact thing (oh you did something chippy to me? I'll hit you in the face with my stick) he should be getting 5-7. I agree that the "star player discount" drops that.

He should get 10 games but I'm not aware of the technicalities that can be argued when the player meets with the league to explain his side of the story. As he swung the stick his eyes were looking down the ice the entire time so he may be able to claim it was accidental and he was trying to get off his back and back up the ice. I think it definitely appears deliberate initially and given his history he should not receive the benefit of the doubt.

There is no place for crap like that in the game. He should get 10 games. Good way to blind someone or take out half their teeth.

I can't say I recall the last time I saw a goaltender do a "standard slash" like that. That said, the slash happened right after Franzen low bridged Langkow and tried to take out his knees.

Should be 10+, but given its Chicago and the playoffs are around the corner, he'll get the rest of the regular season at most.

gary lawless @garylawless
if @NHLPlayerSafety throws book at Keith, will he appeal? Will @nhl expedite for playoffs? how will Coyle feel about @nhpa fighting for DK?
I really hope the book is thrown at Keith and he does appeal. Would be so interesting to see how much differently his appeal process would turn out versus Wideman, especially with the playoffs around the corner.

That looked pretty deliberate to me. Also, how did that high-stick on Carter only get 1 game (albeit playoff)? That one was just as deliberate, could easily have taken out Carter's eye.

Interesting that the DOPS has already tweeted that Virtanen will have a hearing today for his hit on Polak, nothing regarding Keith as of yet.

Vancouver's Jake Virtanen will have a hearing today for interference on San Jose's Roman Polak.

I think it would be much faster as there isn't as much evidence involved with texts and stuff like that and the intent is also much clearer.
And very doubtful it eats anymore than one playoff game so he probably doesn't appeal.
