This. No team is going to trade for this guy with $4.4 million still owed over the next two seasons. It's the issue of handing out contracts after a career season.

Bouma had an amazing year in 14/15 and injuries have hit him hard this season. He is one of 2 wingers on the team that plays a physical in your face game but like Ferland he is a bottom 6er so not as valuable as he is portrayed to be. I think that contract would be tough to move unless bad money came back the other way so not worth trading him in my opinion

The only nights that aren't eligible for a night out are the night before a game, the night of a game, and evenings when travel is involved...and you bet they take advantage of them. Especially if the following day is one of the off days. That said, if you're healthy enough to drink all night you're expected to be healthy enough to put in a good practice the next morning.

Good post. The annoying thing here to me is that its not like the game ended at 10-1030 pm and then they stayed out for a bit after. With the game scheduled when it was, he had plenty of time to drink pregame/postgame and still get home at a reasonable time to get a good amount of sleep and still wake up with plenty of time to get to practice. It just shows a great deal of immaturity and a lack of foresight that is disappointing to see from someone i consider a leader on the team. In the long term it's bot a huge issue at all but one cant help but wonder if this was a long time coming or a one off situation.

Treliving was an idiot on this one. He low-balled Bouma so Bouma went to arbitration knowing that he had a good argument on his intangibles not to mention goal scoring.

I like Treliving but the bad contracts are starting to accumulate. I don't understand how Bouma got a 3 year deal. Bottom six players like Bouma should not get more than two year deals so they can be easily moved or buried in the event they regress or get passed by younger players.

If we could move him that would be an amazing stroke of luck. Bouma's contract was a mistake. If they can move it, they should.

The thread title and OP post is dumb but the topic is relevant as a couple of players in leadership roles were hung over for practice and the coach blew a gasket. I'm sure in a couple of days this will blow over but with NFL finished there's nothing else to talk about these days outside of the Phaneuf trade.

Boy I'm sure glad my personal life doesn't get plastered all over the internet for a bunch of strangers to criticize when I show up to work hungover. Half this site pats themselves on the back regularly with the amount of booze they drink on a regular basis and brag about it. God forbid a bunch of young guys in their early 20s party on Superbowl Sunday and show up to work late. The horror!!
All because some doofus OP made a troll post that he publicly stated he did just to get the site riled up.

They can always choose to work for an average CDN salary if they want to live and work in anonymity like the rest of us. I think this is a small price to pay for being paid millions to play a sport for a living.

Are we certain they were hungover? I don't deny that it is the most likely explanation, but it seems there's been a quick leap from speculation to fact in this thread (unless I'm missing something).

Who do players call if they're going to be late? The coach directly on his cell phone? Another player if the coaches cell phone goes to VM? Say they get a flat tire while driving to practice.
Or say they have the flu - do they send the team doctor immediately to the players house?
I'd love to hear a conversation about a player just wanting a day off. Lots of us at some point take sick days, go skiing, take an extra day for that "long" weekend.

Could be Bouma passing on a bug to Mony too? They are roommates.

Right, I totally forgot that being paid a high salary entitles a bunch of arm chair fans sitting in front of their keyboards to be peeping toms into the life of other people, and for the media to make mountains out of molehills because of twitter hits. My bad.

Yeah I always get a chuckle out of his attempt to act neutral in Alberta when he's anything but. It comes through almost everything he writes or tweets ... not always what he says, but what he doesn't, or what he leaves out, what he accentuates.

Typical Spector trying to put a bad light on the Flames, and just when the Oilers are reeling.
And threads like this, with the garbage that some fans want to try and run with, are why Canadian fan-bases can't have nice things.
