Zero games.

Please tell me the last time Wideman did anything blatantly cheap as you are suggesting he did tonight.
He hasn't, and he wouldn't. Thinking that was done on purpose by him of all people is asinine.

It looks bad from that angle, but it's hard to tell what he was thinking. The fact he stayed in makes me think that the officials at least are giving him the benefit of the doubt.

I agree with whomever it was that said it would be too stupid to be intentional. If it turns out it was intentional, then they should probably drug test him too.

I watched the replay clip on Sportsnet.ca, and I'm trying to come up with a logical excuse that, well, excuses him from responsibility...and it being intentional. Not a thing.

Watching this over and over, I can't see how he didn't let his frustration and emotions get the best of him and just belt the first stripes he saw. Based on what I see here, suspension for sure:

Random? That isn't true, it really isn't.

Are tweets in regard to the incident by verified media persons "random"? If so, what constitutes non-randomness?

Anyhow, per the NHL's rulebook: deliberately striking an official is worth at least a 20-game suspension.

Don't think it was intentional.

Post endlessly about it though.

When was the last time someone did something like this to a ref? Has it ever happened? Open-ice hit from behind to the head? Doubt it.

Wideman's not the stupidest idiot to ever step foot on the ice. No chance this was intentional. There would be no logic to it. What would it even be in reaction to?

Here is the hit. 40-ish second mark look at his right eye, there is a lump under it and what looks like a cut.

I mean, how is it not?

He gets up. Skates a good 30 feet. His head does not move in the seconds before he hits Don Henderson - he's looking at Henderson all the way.

Concussed or not, you don't bowl over random people on the way to the bench. Knowing about this rule, I'm going to ballpark 25 games for his suspension.

Why is he still in the game then?

Exactly. All these people on twitter are just watching the 5 second video of the hit and nothing before or after.

You're predicting one of the longest suspensions in NHL history. Just outside of the top 5. Do you have any idea how ludicrous that sounds.

Wideman looks like he didn't have a clue what had just happened though. It didn't look like he was rushing with adrenalin as you would expect someone to after having a fit of anger. If anything, that video makes it looks less intentional to me.

Either that, or Wideman is a total psychopath. Based on his career to date, I am going with accidental.

You really hate Wideman don't you? In 4 pages you've gone from 15 to 25 games

0 games? Wow, what a dirtball move. For those of you saying he was "woozy" who has that kind of power for being woozy? Generally when you are that concussed you don't have the abilty to drive someone into the boards.

Yeah if he was so concussed that he couldn't judge the ref's path when skating by him, he should not have played the rest of the game.
