We are up $50k. After being up $100k last year (purchased in 2013). We seem to get screwed in every home we live in. So frustrating. We did win a review in 2013 though since they had messed up our sq. footage by 600 sq.ft (they had below ground sq.footage included in the total). Guess that's why they upped it in 2014. To ensure they still get the same from us even after their screw up.

You (or the contractor/builder) had to estimate the value of the work being done when you got your basement permits from the city. They add that value to your assessment.

Doesn't really show aside from the developed basement Y/N box. Plus, are you arguing you want it higher? I can't think of a positive to having it higher other than re-assuring you of your purchase.

The city's assessments hold as much weight in a purchase/sale deal as a tsetse fly.

So it looks like my property value fell $13K from last year.

On the Calgary Herald, my Area's 2016 value is virtually the same as the 2015 area value. Does this mean my property taxes will remain the same as it was for 2015?

Thx

Reading this thread is making it abundantly clear how many people really don't understand how property taxes are calculated.

Mine is very close to what it was last year. Both are significantly less that what the house would sell for.

It's been quite a few years in a row, and two different houses, every year my house has been assessed for at least 50k less than market value.
