Didn't Notley specifically ask Drever to work on it prior to her removal next day?

She wasn't supposed to win to begin with. It's not like she stole the job or something. She ran in an election, likely thinking that it'd teach her a thing or two, but then she actually won. And whose "fault" is that? The people that voted for her? The PCs? It's not like she stormed the LA and demanded employment.

Just a woman that decided to try something new, get some experience, and lo and behold, she got the job! So now that she has it, she's learning as she goes. And being honest about how much it's turned her life upside down. And you're downright pissed off that she wasn't prepared for it. None of the NDP caucus was prepared for it. But she's the easy target.

I'm just laughing about how mad people are about her. Blame the voters, not her. She did stupid things in the past. We all did. Doesn't mean that she'll never do anything good in the future. She already got a bill passed. Looks like she's learning. Looks like she's taking it seriously. She's sitting as an independant, and got something done. But to some people, she'll never be good enough. I didn't see a thread when she got her bill passed, but there sure as hell was a thread when a local business made a printing error.

I guess I'm defending her because I think that her past transgressions aren't that bad. They are varying degrees of bad, but they're not heinous. So I prefer to allow her to grow out of that. Even though it's on the taxpayer's dime. After all, it was the taxpayers that voted her in, so who you mad at?

I don't know where you got that idea from. The Conservatives?

It's always a training ground. Very few newly-elected MLA's have been MLA's before. It's got something to do with being newly elected, I believe.

Once upon a time I worked for a monthly paper that included community updates from local, provincial, and federal gov't officials in each issue. It could be maddening trying to get updates, or they'd come in at the 11th hour after we had to pull some teeth, literally on Friday night at 6:45 p.m., moments before the paper got sent to the printer. Sometimes the updates wouldn't come at all.

In that regard, it's easy to see how a place-holder might make it through to publication.

Rather than blame DD, you should blame the voters in her riding.

Between hosebag DD and Marg "I like Twinkies" McCuaig-Boyd blubbering like a five-year-old in the legislature, the oil patch downturn may be a good thing. All the "I deserve free ride" voters will bugger off to whatever nanny province they came from.

Wow - this is a horrible post.

So you're calling one MLA a "hosebag"; and criticizing another for "blubbering like a five-year-old" after she had received death threats.

Personally, I think it is classy, upstanding folks like you who wouldn't be missed in this province.

It is quite ironic how her own previous social media indiscretions and comments on public figures stand against her current complaints about being unfairly treated by social media now once she has become a public figure herself. What's good for the goose, dear...

BTW, Don Braid wrote an article about Drever in today's Herald. "Awww, I'm a girl that made a few mistakes in my tough life, give me a break and leave me alone. I am so tired of all the attention I am getting.". He did say there that there is no doubt NDP will take Drever back this year. So, her removal was just for show, just as WR said. Which was at the core of this incident and the public attention it has gotten. Not the "mishap" of the holiday message, which nobody really cares about or reads.
I don't think it was for show. It was a punishment and when it happened it was stated if she caught her crap together she would be allowed back in. This appears to have happened. This is a good thing.

Heard on CBC today. She does have a blame everyone else attitude and isn't the best public speaker but she does seem to be improving which is about what you can hope for when the electorate doesn't vet it's candidates.

Wow, what is it about this woman that brings out so much hate? Did she set up a GoFundMe and make off with the proceeds or something?

Default MLA Deborah Drever calls identical holiday message an ‘unfortunate error'

Another note - interesting that some Conservatives play the "look what you did!" and "how could you vote for her!" cards.

Nelson lost by 200 votes. Easily overcome if conservatives really cared at the time. Now suddenly it's someone else's fault.

Neither NDP nor Conservative voters have a high horse worth riding.

And I voted for her. I'm not ashamed of the decision.

Huge kudos to you.

Nothing says I'm a liberal minded person better than voting for a poor poor young girl who has been wronged by the world all her life and is now owed a living.

Her inspirational sob story serves as shining example to the younger generation that the longer the rap sheet, the better the person you are.

You are now invited to my Superbowl party and if she is free to come I would be absolutely delighted and honoured. I am giving out free premium pot.
