Glad to see Burnett coming back, he played well for the Stamps until an injury ended his season.

Calgary Stampeders general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the re-signing of national receiver Simon Charbonneau-Campeau. He was set to become a free agent in February. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“This was a very difficult decision but one that was necessary because of salary-cap considerations and the need to give an opportunity to younger players,” said Hufnagel. “I thank Juwan for everything he has done on and off the field for the Calgary Stampeders. It was a true pleasure to have been Juwan’s coach these past eight years and I wish him all the best.”
He'll be picked up fairly quickly. Always liked Juwan.

Big Juwan Simpson fan but the right move. Between Mayo can fill this spot and I think its always best to cut an aging and expensive player a year early instead of a year late. I don't doubt Juwan can play still but any year now you'll likely see a drop off. Huff smart to move on now and not wait for that to happen.

Wish Juwan Simpson all the best, he was a great player for the Stamps. That said, this is the right time to give a chance to a younger player or players.

I hope he sign with the Eastern team. Hopefully Ottawa, Montreal or Hamilton. He is still good but it is the salary cap thing.

Sounds like Keon Raymond will also be moving on - nothing official but that's the way it is looking right now. Too bad - would have loved to see him finish his career with the Stamps

In other football news, former Stamps QB Jeff Garcia was let go today by the St. Louis Rams. I wonder if he looks to the CFL for another coaching opportunity.

Stamps also signed U of C Dinos QB Andrew Buckley the other day. Is Moniz still under contract?

I would have love to see Jeff Garcia coaching the QB for Stampeders this season and groom to be an OC but we already have Dinwiddie.

This barely qualifies as CFL news but former NFL 1st round draft pick and Stampeders running back Lawrence Phillips is dead following a suspected suicide in his jail cell.

Dressler and Chick released. Press release says they tried to reach lower salaries for both but couldn't come to an agreement.

Zero surprise here. Dressler is a future Ring of Honour inductee for sure. Hope they go sign somewhere out east. 2 of the players who actually gave a crap last year, 2 of my favourites

Edit: and with Ryan Smith still around (for now at least) we still have a Dressler type player, just younger and cheaper (though not as good). Hope Jones goes after some big targets at receiver.

Wow, little surprised they would release Dressler. He was their heart and soul guy. Would like for Winnipeg to go after these guys and finally become competitive again.
