Why hasn't the idea of a "social" caught on anywhere else? I personally would have loved a way to subsidize my wife's wedding bills.

When I heard about the concept of a Wedding Social I couldn't believe it at first.
"Total strangers come and buy tickets & drinks to help you pay for your wedding? This is common?"
What's even more wierd is the Wedding Reception Socials where total strangers buy tickets to get into your wedding reception and get shinguardfaced while you sit at the head table with your new spouse...

Can't say I have ever heard of a Wedding Reception Social...This is new to me. [/b][/quote]
And you call yourself a Manitoban.
For pope04 a social is simply a licenced party put on by the soon to be married copule, where guests pay to get in and pay for their drinks as a way to subsidise the wedding.
