Haha I am sure that is the case.
However, doesn't matter what they say. The fact would be they are bringing up a player and playing him ahead of Ortio. They can say all they want, their action says "we think this guy is more talented than you, the only reason you're here is contract status". If there was a significant gap in talent-level, it could be understood, but from what we've seen, there isn't.
No doubt Karri will get some time (depending on how long Hiller is out) possibly as early as Saturday due to the back to back. But I don't think bringing him up and playing him before you put in Ortio is sending the right message, regardless of the lip service that comes along with it.

Orito I'd guess if Ramo hasn't even been recalled yet.

No surprise, but Ramo will be officially recalled today. #Flames

I can agree with that. I'm just not going to get pre-emptively upset about it.

I can almost guarantee Ortio will start tomorrow, no way the flames will put in a cold goalie against one of the best teams in the NHL right now. Ramo will be the backup until Hiller is good to go - or traded.

Given hartley seems to favor vet goalies over Ortio , watch we'll end up with Ramo starting both against montreal and coilers. I hope I'm wrong here and we see Ortio take the ball and run with it.

I don't think so...
I believe we go back to continuing to "Win and stay in" approach that Hartley has been doing all season, just now with Ortio and Ramo.

As to who starts first this weekend? Ramo, Ortio, doesn't really matter. They will each get one start.
Ortio has to be smart enough to realize he wasn't waived because the Flames thought he would be claimed - ASSET MANAGEMENT. It wasn't necessarily that he proved himself better than the two vets.
People here want Ortio in front of both Hiller and Ramo - fine. Doesn't mean that's where he belongs or where Hartley is ready to play him. He's still the young guy learning the ropes... that takes time.

Because Ortio is all warmed up from playing 12 minutes?

Unless whoever starts Friday plays exceptionally well and wins the game (oh God, please). Neither goalie has played so frequently at this point that they would be too tired to play back-to-back.

I agree, but this does not necessarily mean that we should expect a start from Ramo tomorrow.

That is a hell of a lot more game action than Ramo has had in the past week.

He played a full game on Monday, been practicing with the team and warmed up last night. I'd say he's a hell lot more ready then Ramo will be.
I'm a huge Ramo supporter too.

Ramo played 20 minutes in relief of Gillies who got pulled a few days ago. He's not ice cold. He was only waived last week anyways.

I know that a majority of people would prefer to see Ortio get both starts, but that may not happen since it is back to back nights.
So, if the starts are split between the two goalies, what would you prefer happen?
vs Habs: Ortio
vs Oilers: Ramo
or
vs Habs: Ramo
vs Oilers: Ortio
Tough call. You want your best against the best and Ramo has proven that he is not at the top of his game this year. So by that reasoning you'd want Ortio against the Canadiens... however, you also want to make sure you beat the Oilers on Saturday, so you'd want the hottest goalie playing that night.
Play what you perceive to be the better goalie on Saturday night and hope for the best on Friday against that top team in the NHL (so far)?

As far as I'm concerned that choice is a loser mentality as it tells the team it's conceding the loss on Friday. It's how Brent Sutter approached the goalie situation and we'd end up losing both games.

What about Miikka Kiprusoff in one of those pairs of glasses with the fake nose and mustache.
"What do you mean....I am Ramo...."

Does Ramo need to clear waivers again when he returns to Stockton?
