O for #### shakes. This #### needs to stay in the U.S. not very Canadian at all of this driver . Gay marraoge has been legal for over a decade now. He fail to do his job and if you read your charter we actually do have limits of speech, belief and conscience.
FIts not like the USA where you can argue its against your religion Canadas Charter is setup mich different.

I didn't think we could manage to get to a less relevant topic than charter rights, but kudos, sir.

Awesome clip but subtract good karma for bringing up the Washington Redskins!

Why is it useless. Is he not going to argue that he has the right to religous belief and thats his legal right to refuse to do so on that ground? That he shouldn't be fired because of it? Seems like it might be useful to me.
I think its a great thing that bigots (from any religious background) are less able to hide behind the "my religion" excuse for their intolerance. Society is moving in a forward direction and those unwilling to accept that will face the consequences with things like not fitting in and potentially being fired from your place of work.

Because he almost certainly was not fired for refusing to drive a bus he was never asked to drive.
He would have been fired for violating the terms of his employment that restrict him from speaking to the media and for the way he behaved essentially acting as a representative of Calgary Transit.
Also because his right to religious belief only exists, from a charter perspective, as between him and the Canadian government. Not his employer. If I'm your employer, I can absolutely fire you for your religious beliefs without offending the Charter. I can also fire you for being gay without offending the Charter. Your remedy would be a human rights complaint, not a constitutional argument.

Yup. I can't wait.
The whole excuse of "God" and "The Bible" is dying as an acceptable reason to discriminate and it's getting faster and faster. Soon the Vatican will have to accept homosexuality and then probably rethink their stance on other issues that are not necessarily bigotted, but changing with the times, like contraception and pro-choice and so many other things that bigots like to hide behind.

Firstly, I don't want to turn this into an abortion debate. But a person can believe that abortion is wrong and that is not necessarily a bigoted opinion.
As far as other bigoted things, if I choose to teach my children that they should wait for marriage to have sex, I am a bigot?

It's not bigoted, it's just an issue that might test the beliefs of the church and potentially lead them to back tracking on thousands of years of teaching.
As for the second question, no. But it makes you naive and sets your children up for a sketchy future if you don't choose to educate them on proper sexual safety... But again, not bigoted. Just poor judgement.
