I remember a few years ago Dad was filling up his motorhome, some lady said something to the effect of "sucks having gas prices this high, doesn't it?" He replied "Nope, got oil stock."
The problem is that right now this doesn't work either...
Early this year, I was saying "Well, I hope I am paying $1.40/L because that'd mean oil is back around $80-100."
Nowadays I'm sure we'll get to $1.40/L but oil will $35.
Makes me happy that my form of transportation is over 95 percent renewable energy powered. Electric bikes and e motorcycles powered by hyrdo generated electricity. Every thing about them can be recycled.

Seriously though, with the free supercharger stations and the range, I really will consider Tesla next time. Drove the 401 between Toronto and Montreal the other day and thought about this a lot. I don't think the recharge station are at ONroute stops (which are incredible, btw) but to make that return trip on someone else's dime @ only one 45 minute pitstop would be fantastic.

An Israeli tech company figures it can get fueling times down to around 5 minutes. With that breakthrough (if it pans out), I can see zero advantage to gas cars. With the price of electric cars decreasing due to mass production, the price will also no longer be a barrier.
Electric vehicles:
-more powerful
-cheaper to run
-no oil change/very little maintenance
-almost equal range per tank which becomes irrelevant with quicker charging
The only thing I see gas powered vehicles being used for is hauling, but even that may not be necessary down the road

Have they improved the impact that cold weather has on the range? That and charge times have always been my two biggest sticking points, especially since we are in 6 months of winter.
Interestingly, diesel prices are still low. I paid 92 cents yesterday. I remember during last summer that I was filling up diesel at $1.16-$1.25 and it was costlier than gas.

I heard, again on the radio, that the gas being raised in the states was admitted to be an over reaction to the effect the refinery shutdown would have. They decreased the raise at the pumps by half.
Meanwhile here, instead of a similar decrease of what would be fourteen cents, we see a drop of five cents. What gives?

“That’s why prices at the pump don’t seem to reflect what’s happening with the price of crude,” he said.
So we should hope oil prices go up so we don't need to subsidize their gas prices and gas prices will than go down?

I was at the Balzac Costco yesterday and the line up for gas was just about back to the road. The Petro Canada just down the hill was at 100.4 so for 6 cents a liter people were willing to wait in that line. Just crazy.

Yeah when I go to the Heritage Costco there is always a huge line up of at least 25 cars in each lane. I just couldn't go through all that hassle to maybe save 4 dollars.

I do it with my truck that has the oversized tank. It's 138 liters, so 6-8 cents a liter or $8.30 - $11.04 per tank. Additionally with the 2% reward that's an extra $3.00 so $11.30 - $14.00 per tank saved. Using that math it's like a reward card, fill up 10 times and the next one is free. I also usually can hit up the costco by me at decent times so without 25 cars.
