For two decades we have been searching for a top end quality center. Hell, we've been looking for quality center depth during that period and have been incapable of finding any to speak of. Now the Flames find themselves at a point where they will have Monahan, Bennett, Jankowski and Arnold all arriving at about the same time. All with skill, size, speed and smarts. Damn impressive job by our scouts.

Now we just need to find an Iginla to play with all of these centres.

There could be a UFA one available in a couple of years. Might be a bit past his prime though.

I kid I kid..

It is kinda funny in a cruel way just how well Iginla in his prime would fit alongside Johnny and Monny.

If they could clone Dolly the sheep, why not Iginla?

He has two sons, so that means we can have not one, but two Iginlas on the team!

Two Iginlas on one team! WOW!

I still maintain Iggy should get a look at the end of his contract. All that talk about him changing the dynamic in the room is hogwash.

If at age 40 the Flames offer Iggy a 1 year deal and he puts up 15 goals as a bottom 6 guy and PP specialist, it is money well spent. Not to mention, I would die a happy man seeing Iggy raise the Cup in a Flames uniform.

I don't really think we would need him at that point. We have such an abundance of quality forwards and forward prospects that I think those spots will be better filled by younger players. Something about bringing Iggy back just seems counter productive even though it might not be. I just like what we have going. No need to bring that spotlight back into the lockerroom for no reason other than nostalgia.

Hate to agree but the players on the roster are making this their team. If Iggy was to come back, I would hate for there to be confusion about who's team it was. And if it is Jarome's last chance at a cup, he may try to take control of things in the room if it isn't working.
Purely speculative with zero substantiation, just something to be considered.
Is it worth the risk? Over say Porier or Klimchuk or someone of that ilk on the cusp and missing out of a spot due to Jarome being back?..

I hate so say but my favorite player of all time doesn't have a spot on the Flames ever again, I feel.

Disagree. A 40 year old Iggy, in my opinion, will be a very useful player. Mind you, a 40 year old Iggy is not a 26 year old Iggy, but a valuable piece that could be very useful in the playoffs.

Disagree again. You can bet your ass Ray Bourque didn't think he was going to take Sakic's team away from him. And Ray Bourque is a legend among legends when it comes to leaders in the NHL. Having said that, having a Ray Bourque in the room was a positive thing, not negative.

Iggy left. He gone. Totally different team nowadays. Iggy knows this, Gio knows this, everyone knows this. Iggy isn't going to comeback and feel he is the new leader. When he left in 2013, he knew he'd never be the go-to guy for leadership ever again on any team. If he comes back at 40, it'll be a nice treat for the fans, but for the players and club, it'll just be an experienced forward who will contribute offensively, that is all.

^^^ Not that I agree that Iginla will never come back; granted the likelihood is minimal. Your post still made me LOL, so thanks for that.

Ray Bourque didn't play for the Avs for a decade and a half though. Iggy's history with the club makes him a bit of a different case.
