The Burke comments about his play and targeting him upon hire were not appropriate. While I don't dislike Burke or his style, he put the nix on a young kid, rather than nurture. See Gaudreau Burke comment.
Same rate, Sven never did anything for his personal development and his attitude sucked.

Yeah I got the exact same thought out of that Baertschi quote as Fire of the Phoenix (awesome first four letters of your user name by the way ).
It is likely his development was ruined by the 5 game emergency call up. Baertschi was so successful he may have received little criticism from the coaches or chose to ignore it because he was scoring. After this he assumed he had made it as an NHLer and did not handle the future adversity well.

I think Sven breaks out this year. Puts up more points than any of Calgary's forwards.

He could have tanked his trade value by leaking he wanted out. He didn't. This is what I mean by quietly asking out. Compare with Erixson and the way his camp handled it. One was the right way one was the wrong way.

To add I like players not being robots and telling us how they actually feel. We know that Sven didn't like how the flames developed him. I would disagree but it's nice to her that instead of cliches.

yeah not so sure I'd put Baertschi comments in the "saying the right things" category.
However, if you want some great quotes that fit the description when you google narcissist they are perfect!

Targeting him upon hire? A reporter asked him a question and he answered honestly.

I think it's just like you said. He had it easy in his young hockey career through junior as his talent carried him and when he hit the pros where players are bigger, faster, and more talented he hit that wall where his talent alone wasn't good enough and it appears he's really struggled to realize/accept that his junior game wouldn't translated directly to the pros. He seems to have taken the approach that a coach just has to let him play his game and the offense will come just like junior and that's simply not going to happen. It didn't happen that way for better players like Steve Yzerman (Bowman was very hard on him in his early years) and it's not going to happen for Sven without learning the team game.

Erixon never tanked his trade value.. We got 3 2nd round picks for him. For Sven we got 1.
Sven only cares about himself and it's evident he couldn't care less about the Flames.
And he didn't ask out.. He threatened to not sign his next contract if he wasn't traded. BIG difference.

Erixon got more because at the time he was a highly regarded blue chip prospect that many teams wanted. He was trending up.
No one other than the Canucks wanted Sven if you believe what Treliving and Friedman said. Sven has been trending down.

This road exists in the California desert. I thought you'd find that amusing zyzz.
Your comment belongs in the desert too figuratively speaking.

Right, so whats the issue? Erixon never tanked his trade value by talking and Sven didn't do the Flames any favours so no need to say that he did.

1) I was a fan of Sven until the pouting comments in the media about his treatment in Calgary. That soured me.
2) After BT's story on why they traded Sven, I thought that was pretty rough. I get that maybe it's the best thing for his career if he wasn't going to get a shot here, but basically putting a gun to BT's head was not the right way to do it. Soured more.
3) He went to the Canucks. As much as I'm soured there is still potential this kid can put up pts. I REALLY don't want to hand a division rival a young kid with potential, especially the Canucks. So I'm hoping he fails because of the above souring, but mostly because of 3, and I don't want to look back for years and be like 'what did we do?' (which I think is remote but I still harbour a LITTLE fear)
So a pox! A pox on the Svensation!

I think he's entertaining, and only says what he really thinks without holding back. What you see is what you get with Burke, so I think there's something to respect about that. I don't hate him, but I can see why many people do.
