I want my consciousness uploaded into a JARVIS-type format. I'll just live in an Iron Man suit. It'll be all good.

cause he's currently spending time on CP and not with the woman in the red dress (just like all the rest of us)
if this is the Matrix, it sure is a pretty lame version and I vote we demand recreational upgrades from our machine overlords.

If this was the matrix, I'm thoroughly disappointed in the machine's rather boring world they've pulled over our eyes. Where are the flying cars? Why isn't every girl a 10/10? For shame machines.

Just the girls? Why am I not a 10/10?
*looks down in shame*

I'm always fascinated by this stuff, but the one question I always circle back to is how likely it is that we're already dealing with outside civilizations on earth in some capacity and just don't know it yet.
At first it sounds like a crazy thought, and yet when you really try to wrap your head around everything, it's almost crazy to not believe we're being monitored/visited/manipulated/mimicked and infiltrated, etc.

It's almost impossible as a human being to comprehend how we exist, so we feel like our abysmal amount of time spent on space exploration is significant.
Now imagine civilizations that have been at it for millions of years, and have moved from planet to planet, from solar system to solar system with little effort. They can probably travel from some place we don't have the technology to see to our planet with the same effort it takes us to all go to our local sports arena for a hockey game.
They're likely just watching us and waiting until we get to a certain level of development, then they'll remove the top species (humans) in a quick, calculated kill and move right in seamlessly.

I find it hard to believe that we are alone in the universe. There simply must be something else out there.
However, any other potential civilization would run into the same problems we do with space travel. There is simply so much distance between bodies in space. I don't think anyone has made contact with earth yet. Maybe with other civilizations, but not ours.
I would imagine an alien race would be just as excited as we are to meet someone new, and they wouldn't "wait". They'd come on in and introduce themselves, in my opinion.

It's not just a distance factor either, but a temporal one. Given what we know about our own planet, species and civilizations rise and become instinct in a cosmic blink of an eye. We would have to hope that not only would an alien civilization be close enough to contact, but that they exist at the same time as us (not a small factor considering the age of the universe).

My theory is that greed is the catalyst for evolution but it also leads to the eventual downfall of life. First, Greed drives survival. Take from your competition. "Survival of the fittest" etc... Then greed drives innovation. It drives us to better ourselves so that we can have more. However it looks like it's something we can't turn off and our greed could eventually destroy the planet.
I think this could be a common thread in all life.
