I gotta say that after a Tom Waits marathon of the past week, I am feeling a little depressed. Maybe some Dudes or Gogol Bordello.

Anybody heard the new Destroyer album? My favorite thus far this year. Between Daniel Bejar and Neko Case, it's shaping up as a good year for New Pornographer veterans.

Dan: Nashville Skyline... that's the one with Dylan and Cash doing a duet of Girl from the North Country, right? Just an amazing song.

Why punish yourself like that.... maybe if you think you have been too happy..

I love Tom Waits... but Moderation is key...

Definitely one of the greatest duets of all time.

As for the new Destroyer album, I hear good things. I should pick it up sooner or later.

Where can you get the Destroyer CD? I've searched everywhere; Megatunes did not have it Sunday.

New Flaming Lips in stores Tuesday!

Yeah, I couldn't find it at Megatunes either and they weren't sure when they were getting any copies in, so I ended up just ordering it from Amazon.

A whole lot of Good Riddance and Pulley lately. This weeks music will mostly be Deftones because they are in town on Thursday for the TASTE OF CHAOS TOUR (Bands here: http://www.tasteofchaos.com/bands.htm) That should be a decent show. Also next week will most likely contain a whole lot of Mad Caddies and Satanic Surfers as they are coming to Mac Hall on May 10th.

That's the one
The only song I had heard from that album when I bought it was Lay Lady Lay, which is a good song but is actually my least favorite on the album
Great great album

I also just bought Johnny Cash Live at Folsom Prison and I can't stop listening to it

While I'm at it, does anyone have some recommendations for some good country albums? I never got into country before but I love Johnny Cash right now

My current bands I've been listening to a lot:
Saturnus
Electric Wizard
Avernus
Woods of Ypres
My Dying Bride
November's Doom
Swallow the Sun
Green Carnation
Sleep
Sons of Otis
Om
Disembowelment
Bongripper
Boris
Merzbow
Agalloch
Katatonia

Behemoth
Dismember
The Berzerker
Meshuggah
Death

I wouldn't exactly recommend most of this to you guys though... MAYBE something off the first list if you're feeling real curious and bored...

edit: actually on looking it over again, i would recommending checking out a handful of the bands on the first list, they've got some really good stuff that average joe 6 pack might enjoy

Not wanting to reopen the hip-hop argument, but one artist to check out is K'naan. Meaningful AND good. He's a Somalian refugee, who seems to have found his niche in poetry and hip-hop.

Some songs I've been big on lately:

Eels - I Like Birds
Bedouin Soundclash - When the Night Feels My Song
Neil Young - Unknown Legend
Bob Dylan - Don't Think Twice
George Thorogood - Get a Haircut
The Weakerthans - Our Retired Explorer

All Cash ... all the time, songs I used to play for my friends BEFORE the movie "sucked" to them, now they are good. Weird how that works.

Also Live makes its way into my CD player atleast a few times a month, usually the best of.

If you want to keep it Canadian, listen to some Tegan and Sarah. Very good Canadian group out of Calgary.

Currently have Breaking Banjamin, Sanctus Real, Ace Troubleshooter, Shinedown, and Anberlin in my rotation. I especially like the Anberlin (their first album - Blueprints for the Black Market is amazing)

Yesterday I bought two CDs...

Sufjan Stevens Illinois
Elliott Smith Figure 8

Both are fantastic. If you're into this type of music I highly recommend checking out the magazine Paste. Each magazine comes with a sampler CD with some great stuff on it, that and the articles are pretty good as well.

Also recently downloaded Josh Ritter's new album The Animal Years which is pretty good, it comes out today in Canada I do believe.
