Nothing wrong with Italian pasta dishes. I'll take a double order of Ramortio, please!

Really though, all that's left for the Flames is housekeeping.
Get the contracts done at good value and term. Gio included.
If after that a trade presents itself for fringe players like Granlund, Hiller, Raymond, Bollig, Shore, for futures, you get that done with an eye towards organizational needs and waiver eligibility.

Arena has been mentioned a couple times, and although it's slightly different than tinkering with the on-ice product, a new arena would have a massive positive impact on the team. Speaking strictly as a fan, I've been away from Alberta for a decade now and had the opportunity to see games in 6 or 7 Eastern arenas- all of which make the Dome seem painfully outdated.
Improved training facilities, perhaps an on-site practice arena, upgraded amenities, spiffy new locker room- this stuff matters to players and their agents. If we truly have become an upper tier destination for players, a new rink would push us even higher.
Not to mention more ticket revenue and an improved fan experience, which would strengthen the team both on and off the the ice even further.

I expect to see Gio signed before the first game of the season. Treliving needs to know the cost to enable him to do future planning for dealing with the cap.

My target would be Tokarski out of Montreal. I also wonder if we could move Raymond back to Toronto?

I hope Treliving is able to move 2 of the bodies he brought in last year in Raymond and Hiller and hopefully get a couple picks in return.
I would still like to see the team bring in another top 6 forward on the wing but not really necessary as Colborne might be able to fill that role

We have the best D in the league, good young talent and speed through all 4 lines, emerging high end skill, good culture and work ethic, excellent conditioning, good depth at every position (except maybe RW), and the best coach in the league.
This is a playoff team. You don't miss the playoffs with the best defence in the league.

Next move after clearing out some extra bodies for picks is to determine where the Flames really stand. If it looks they really are contending for good playoff run, I expect we'd continue to try to upgrade in goal and bring in a little more scoring depth. If we can be top 10 in scoring last year with the injury to Gio and that 6 goals in 9 games streak (or whatever it was) with a little help top 5 might be doable. With our defense, that looks like a contender to me.

Tied for 6th with Wash last year.
10 more goals would put us 3rd in the league.

My thoughts on what we should do:
Sign:
Bouma
Ferland
Giordano
Jooris
Schlemko
Trade For Assets:
Raymond
Bollig
Engelland
Smid
Hiller

I did not remember it being so high, sweet! In that case maybe we just need a goalie upgrade and end of season playoff cya depth signing in case of injury.

I think Hiller still gets dealt if Treliving can find a creative deal. There was something they didn't like about him being a starter and I just don't think they were willing to pay the prices that were out there during the goalie blitz. Now that things have calmed down what's out there?
Been thinking perhaps Bernier which allows us to swap positions with the Leafs in that they can have an expiring contract after this year to continue their rebuild.

No need to get another goalie, trade Hiller for assets.

I'd sign Hudler this summer as long as the terms aren't too onerous. That way if we still can't fit him under our cap, he'll be a trade-able asset at the end of the season. It would suck if at the trade deadline we come to the conclusion that we can't re-sign him but he's still very useful to us for the remaining season, so we need to let him walk.

Wow the love affair with Ramo is interesting. He was the worst goalie out of the two last year. Who the heck knows what happens with him next year too. At least with Hiller I;m comfortable saying we'll at the very least get much of the same thing we did last year. Better goaltending than Ramo provided.
With Ramo I find his style too unpredictable to feel like he can raise it up a level or even provide similar consistency than he did last year or just fall right off the cliff.
I was perfectly happy rolling inot next season with Hiller Ortio if they couldn't land anyone in the trade market, bringing Ramo back in is kind of a head scratcher to me.
It's more hedging their bet on Ortio than anything.
I'll be honest, I have less faith in Ramo coming up with similar or better numbers than he did last year than I do Hiller. Will be a fascinating couple of months heading into camp and an even more interesting Main camp to watch unfold.
