Wouldn't be a Hudler thread without this.

I love the answer to the leadership question. It's hard to stand out as a leader in a room with Lidstrom, Yzerman, Zetterberg, and Datsyuk. That's why he wanted to come to Calgary: to be the Zetterberg or Datsyuk for the Flames.

What a great answer.

Sometimes you need to know the backstory to enjoy a funny picture. I'm sure there IS a backstory here, but for the past couple years I can honestly always enjoy this picture without knowing it! LOL!!

I believe this is the original...

Around that time, face-swap images were all the rage, where someone takes an image and finds one person with a crazy look on their face and Photoshops that person's face on everyone in the photo.

Someone did a face-swap with Hudler's face in that picture. I don't think there's any more of a story than that.

Jiri will go on the Flames wall of fame. Same as Hartley.
Jiri is one of the good guys in pro sports.
How about when he shot hoops in hockey gear
He is too good of a role model for Treliving to be serious about trading him. I have said it several times before, if would be foolish and his fantasic impression on the team would be difficult to replace.

There is no way you could trade Hudler after listening to those videos.

His desire to be the best line in the league and his desire to big one of the best leaders in the league is so strong and authentic. What a perfect player to have with Johnny and Monohan.

This.. I was on the fence about trading him... And that was only if you could get a crazy good deal for him. At this point, I think his value to the team is far greater than the return he could get in a trade even if that trade was a huge package deal. People can call me crazy but nothing less than a top 5 pick in the draft would be worth it... I know it's a huge, ridiculous overpayment but that's the kind of deal it would take. We don't want to sell so the buyer has to really convince us with a crazy good offer.

Such a great leader and perfect veteran for the young guys on this team. Between him and giordano... This is the perfect environment to develop young players into NHL stars. Why mess with that?

So for some people it takes a funny speech to realize trading Hudler is a bad idea?

Also, anyone else wonders what the fourth message was on Jiri's phone?

I'm not sure the Flames should trade Hudler, but if they did work out a deal to trade him that they feel would be beneficial for the long term success of the club, they should totally not do that trade now that we know Hudler is awesome at acceptance speeches

The advertising on the boards is a bit of foreshadowing...

Yeah, no trading Hudler please. A year ago I was firmly in the camp that he should be traded at this draft or the 2016 trade deadline as part of a rebuilding move but no longer am. Throughout this amazing season he was a key member of the leadership team and this was confirmed by his comments tonight.

From his wife, reminding him to wear clean socks and underwear. Glad he only showed off the socks.
