I think its a great rule for exactly that reason. I know that in my case I get cap, but I had a big improvement and wasn't considered to be a playoff team when the season began. I like to think that I tried and put effort into making it, so it should be rewarded. I know that $100k a point won't discourage teams from tanking on its own, but its still something.

I do have a fear that teams will tank hard and then get tons of money the year after when they go for it, but then again that takes a lot of effort, so why not reward that?

My first thought was that this would reward tanking but I think figured out that it was also a short sighted view

A team could tank (might get fired for trying to loose)) and have a great season the following season and get am cap reward. Well that would suck but we are not talking a large pool of teams here the one bonus is that they will also position themselves in a bad spot the following year when they don't get a Cap bonus and need to cut the 4M from their roster

I like the rule because it rewards a lot more teams then those one or two that might try and exploit it. Rather then fighting this rule we should fight a team trying to tank on purpose

I don't know if this is quite the thread for this, but I thought it might be related to the rollover...

I am trying to trade the 2nd round pick I have to the Jets to fulfill a condition, but my 2015 picks are not showing up under the trade screen. Nor are any 2015 picks of the teams I am trying to trade with. I know there's a thread about trading picks but I figured I would actually have to trade the pick first before "announcing" it in there.

Also, I am not sure what I am required to do/trade to fulfill this condition: "If the 2014 1st(SJ) is 1-5, Vancouver gets a 2015 1st. If the 2014 1st(SJ) is 6-10, Vancouver gets a 2nd in 2015. If the 1st(SJ) is 25-30, the Jackets get a 2nd in 2015."

yeah this year's picks don't show up on the trade screen any more after the rollover happens. If you trade a 2015 pick, just put "pick ## to team ... to fulfill the condition ..." in the conditions box and then post in the draft order thread.

I just ran into this as well. When the rollover happened, the 2015 picks were removed from the system. If you are trying to trade with someone and you want to add a pick, you need to add that into the conditions box on the bottom of the trade page. So for example, if we traded and you were giving me a 5th round pick, you would put "SJ to get CBJ 2015 5th Round Pick" and once the trade was approved you would go to the Entry Draft Order thread and post that the 5th round pick (using the pick number or CagedGreat might go all Hulk on you) goes to SJ.

SJ's 1st was #8 last year. You owe Vancouver a 2nd round pick in 2015. As you only have the 2nd from Nashville, you need to post in the Entry Draft thread that the 54th pick goes to Vancouver to fullfill a condition.
