Nice that the Hawks compensatory pick didn't affect any of the Flames 2nd rounders

- 1 pick in the top 113

That's how championship teams are built (us vs them)

Man, too bad the Caps didn't cave and give us Buffalo's 3rd rounder. That would've been 21 spots better at #62.

52 and 83 is still a good trade. Glencross was even a healthy scratch tonight.

If they retain both picks it's kind of cool as if they have two players they are looking at in the 2nd round that they don't think will be around in the 3rd round hey can pick both.

Remember our Calgary Flames were the team whose "cupboards were bare?"

I'd say our cupboards are damn near bursting at the moment and about to get even fuller.

I love how we legitimately built thru the draft, but never tanked a season for picks.

How can the Oiler fans actually still cheer for that team? Ew.

Default Quality Over Quantity:

I wonder if something like this is in the Flames plans if they see a few players unexpectedly drop out of the 1st round...

15th
45th + 136th + Wideman
52nd + 76th + 166th + Jones
53rd + 83rd + 196th + Backlund

over-payment IMO

Backlund could get a 2nd rounder on his own without the picks. At the very, very least. I think I may be misinterpreting what you're saying?
