Would've liked to vote for Alberta party, but there was no candidate in my riding.
Came down to Liberals vs NDP. The Liberals probably line up closer with my beliefs, but they just seem like such a dead entity these days, so I said what the hell, and went with NDP.
Currently starting preparations for end-times.

Rock would have had Premier-in-waiting written all over him if he chose another party or the PC's in the previous election.

Tonight we raise our glasses of potato vodka, comrades. Tomorrow, bright and early at the communal farm.

The relatively few NDP lawn signs I saw in the Beltline didn't even have her name on them; they were just generic party signs encouraging readers to vote for the "Rachel Notley team". As a candidate, the onus was on Ms. Ganley to convince me why she's deserving of my vote, and she failed utterly at that test.

Fair enough. We did the best we could not being able to pay random people to go hand out flyers and having to rely on friends to hit as much of the area as we could. Given the limited time we actually did manage to get to more of the neighborhood than I expected, especially given how hard it was to get into most of the buildings as a lot of building managers were 'not available' when we tried. In the end, how quick this election was called really did have an affect on the outcome for those who voted based on interaction with a candidates team. Out of curiosity, how many of the debates did you go to?

I completely agree. He made a huge impression on me as someone that's new to the Calgary Buffalo riding.
He was out there for weeks on street corners talking with people. The passion and effort that he showed was unmatched by anyone else.
However, I just can't vote for the PC's this time around. Next time Mr. Rock.

Agreed.
I can understand if you are expecting single digit results. But, the NDP, in this instance, have been gaining in the polls for at least a week, even more, and you think that having a chance to take the riding would get you out there!
It's not even about money in most cases, as one poster noted. Its about volunteering your own time and getting noticed. Answering questions and generally just being a down-to-earth person. Show people that you are voting for an actual person and they may be more inclined to cast that ballot on election day.
A school colleague of mine is running federally for a party in town. This party hasn't had an MP in Calgary for as long as I can remember. Doesn't stop him. He has been meeting people for coffee every chance he gets. To hear from them and also to have them hear from him. That is commitment, and if i was in his riding, I would probably vote for him despite our different party affiliations.

While i understand this sentiment, I don't think you realize how big these riding's are, or how long it takes to cover them. Until I was involved with this campaign, I didn't realize this either and had a similar stance, but being out after work 2 days and week and every weekend (and knowing the candidate was out even more than that) since getting the riding nomination 2 weeks before the election was called until yesterday, we had no chance to cover the whole riding. Between debates, forums with community groups, door knocking and standing on streets trying to meet people, there are only so many hours in the day. The more people you have the more area you can cover, and like it or not, the more money your campaign has, the more people you can get.
I don't blame anyone for wanting to vote for the people who were able to make it by their house, but I do think it's unfair to say that those who weren't there aren't working hard, and aren't putting a ton of their time into the campaign.

Voted against the corrupt sewer of a party but would be shocked if they didn't retain government even if they lose the popular vote by 20%. The riding system just sets up perfectly for the PC's to retain power.

voted NDP in Calgary West, more a protest vote than anything cause it's a two horse race in probably the most right-wing riding.

Voted NDP based on platform. Don't even know what riding I'm in or who the candidates are in this riding as I don't plan on living here very long.
NDP cause I'm apparently one of the growing number of people that realize taxes aren't the end of the world and that the pandering to one industry has to stop.

PC because I am a fan of my MLA, Dave Rodney and I like Jim Prentice's style of management.
There were things I liked and didn't like in all platforms.

Why on earth would I vote based on candidate in my riding when I don't know if I'll be living in this riding in June?

Numbers here are just about exactly in line with what 308 projects for Calgary so far, with WRP and PC a little lower, Liberal and AP a little higher, but the NDP numbers right on.
