This thread reminds me a lot of the Mike Richards thread. A bunch of posters see the name, think back to a few years ago when they last saw him at the top of his game and go "Oh definitely, I'd want him", ignoring the last few years that have passed since.

Mike Richards was not UFA and simply holds no comparables. Mike Green had his best statistical year in the last 6 and should have no mutual link with the Flames who would want him for 4/5/6 minutes. Not a fit

I know people that are friends with his brother and from what i heard there is no desire for Green to play here in Calgary

Definitely, and while Green is currently more useful than Richards, I really wouldn't be surprised if in a few years his new contract is looked at just as poorly as Richards' contract is now.

A co-worker of mine worked with Green's mom a few years back and when they spoke about having Mike play in Calgary. She said he has no desire to play in this city...he just likes to be here in the off-season.

That was awhile ago so take it for what it's worth.
