Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg and LA have virtually the exact same records over their last 10 games. Lets not pretend the Canucks are any more or less fragile than we are, or Winnipeg is.

Emotionally, we want Vancouver to lose.

Logically, we need Winnipeg to lose.

A Wpg win is a huge nail in the coffin for Dallas

Dallas is a pivotal opponent for the Flames IMO. They are a team that gives us fits, but if the Flames can get 3 or 4 points out of this home and home, that would be a massive step towards the playoffs.

I want to see the Jets make the playoffs. Watching their games is entertaining as the fans seem to be the best in the league right now. Every couple of minutes a chant is heard through the tv screen.
I also feel that they have the better team where as the canucks have full potential to blow it so they might as well start now.

VAN win in regulation, please.

All I care about at this point is that we make the playoffs. Only 2 of CGY, WPG, LA, are getting in.

Easy choice.

^Yup, this is the right attitude. Worrying about home ice is putting the cart before the horse. Playoffs. That's all that matters.

Vancouver is ALWAYS getting teams on the 2nd half of back to backs

like 25% of their home games, doesn't seem fair

Voted Canucks but realized immediately that it's the wrong choice.

Essentially the question is, would we rather fight for 2nd in Pacific or last Wild Card.

2nd in Pacific gives you Kings or Canucks as the playoff opponent with the home advantage. Last Wild Card gives you St. Louis or Anaheim without home advantage.

Clearly 2nd in Pacific is better. Thus a Jets win is better.

I am pretty convinced right now that in order for the Flames to make the playoffs, it has to be at the expense of the Los Angeles Kings. The Flames only way in is via one of the three spots in the Pacific. So keep winning and try to finish 2nd in the Division. Plus I think the Canucks are the one team the Flames would match up best against in the playoffs.

I want the Canucks to win. Winnipeg is totally passable still if they lose tonight.

I'd much rather have the option of two teams to chase should we fall out rather than one. Especially when one of those is the defending champ who are notorious for late season runs.

In my head LA will pass us. To me it's almost inevitable unfortunately. Winnipeg falling back to us would be a huge help.

I despise both teams but flames should be targeting 2nd place in the division....so...jets win is better

It seems like those more paranoid are hoping for a WPG loss because it ever so slightly gives the Flames a better chance as of today's odds. Those of us more confident in the Flames are sticking to our hatred of the Canucks and want them to lose and feel we can climb in the division standings.

I'm pulling for the Jets. Reasoning:
1) I just like them better than the Canucks
2) I'm fine focusing on the divisional battle. Two of LA, CGY and VAN will get in, no matter what WPG, MIN, COL or DAL do. Beat one of LA / VAN and we're IN!
3) We hold the tie-breaker against LA and there is still a 'Nuk vs LA game to come
4) LA could crumble on this upcoming road swing. (@NYR, @NYI, @CHI, @MIN)
5) VAN and Lack could crumble at any time with virtually the same schedule as us.
6) If we need a fall-back plan, we still hold the tie-breaker against a team with the toughest schedule remaining who we get a crack at last game of the season if all else fails. (Including an almost certain clinching possibility vs LA the second-last game of the season).
7) As previously mentioned but under-reported I feel, for all intents and purposes the Stars are toast if the Jets win tonight. So if they pack-it-in and we get 3 out of 4 or 4 out of 4 points against them that is HUGE! LA and WPG don't play Dallas again, so it's OK for them to start throwing their season!!

Take 2nd in the Pacific and hope for home ice against the crappy Canucks!

The Jets. Cannot cheer for Van no matter what. Being a Flames fan on the west coast has ingrained this. Flames are in a battle with Van for home ice advantage. Would rather they focus on that then scrapping for a Wild card with a team out of division.

No need to worry; it's not really a back to back for Winnipeg. It was the Oilers. That's basically like a practice.

Why are so many people just giving up on chasing the Canucks? If they lose tonight, they are TWO points ahead of us. That's it!

And before last night's game, the only difference in our schedules was that we play the Stars twice and they play the Jets twice. Everything else is THE SAME.

We can catch them. LA can't catch us. Book it!

Cause I think the Canucks are a better team than the Jets and they have a game at hand on us to go with those two points. The way things are shaping up, I count game at hands as two points, because for the last month, it pretty much feels like that's the case.

If the Canucks win tonight, then Winnipeg is only two points ahead of us and WE have a game at hand.

It's not even close as to who I want to lose. (refuse to call it cheering)

Look at it this way.

One of these teams must miss the playoffs: VAN, CGY, MIN, WPG, LAK. Hence, CGY must beat only one of them in the race to get in.

Currently, LAK is below CGY, with LAK having a game in hand. Regardless of whether LA wins tonight, CGY will still be ahead of LAK.

If WPG loses, CGY is one win away from having two teams below them instead of one.

If WPG wins, CGY is one win away from... still being ahead of only LAK.

If Calgary finishes ahead of Vancouver, they may just have a worse matchup in the first round. I don't mind them finishing 3rd in the division, which I think would mean they play Vancouver.

^If Calgary makes the playoffs in a PAC spot they're either playing the Kings or the Canucks. Obviously the latter is preferable because a win guarantees a finals berth.

Because there is no organization in professional sports that whines about travel and scheduling more than the Canucks. The league often does favourable scheduling like this just to shut them up.
