Maybe she needs some cheese to go along with her whine.

She has no clue what a tough life really is.

I have little doubt the article is true. My aunt married an NHL hockey player, and he was always fiercely jealous of any man who went near her. It was probably from all the things he witnessed, during the many years he travelled with his various teams.

Ask your uncle to use his connections to get info from Ken King regarding the new rink!

High divorce rate plays havoc on athletes’ retirements

Quote:
An attorney referral firm, Pro Athlete Direct, issued a news release Thursday citing research that it says indicates that 60 to 80 percent of pro athletes divorce at some point in their lifetimes.

The national rate is about 50 percent, so the track record for athletes on this score is no cause for cheer – and never mind that 60-80 percent is a range that doesn’t sound exactly scientific.
Quote:
Divorce is one of the big reasons athletes find themselves penniless so soon after leaving their sports careers. But, according to a post by Cliff Goldstein of NerdWallet, a lot of athletes also are just clueless about money, spending without restraint, taking really bad financial advice and feeling invulnerable — as if they’re not prone to career-ending injuries or other problems.

This was back in the 30's and 40's, and my uncle and aunt remained married for life...one of the 20 to 40% of couples. At the end of his career, they used their money to purchase a lodge up in Muskoka and lived a very happy and successful life.

If I was a hockey player I'd concentrate on looking for a gal with impeccable character, willing to sacrifice now for the future, and able to manage money.

Definitely interesting to read about some of the behind the scenes stories but I agree with the general sentiment that those are some pretty normal problems that couples have, and that it almost KILLED her is a touch excessive.

This is shocking, considering that Junior Hockey is the best place for an adolescent male to learn proper gender relations and how to treat women with equality and respect.

I don't know why you'd get married if you're a professional athlete. I'd bone as many chicks as I possibly could, all over the continent, and that's it. I'll keep all the money to myself, thank you. Enjoy every moment in the spotlight and live life to the fullest. Then, settle down after the career is done.

Jeter has the most hall of fame baseball career and dating career. All while being one of the most respected athletes in history. I don't think you could ask for a better life or done it better.

I've never really thought about it, but I wonder how many times a professional athlete in the big four has had to miss game(s) due to severe STI symptoms?

Getting traded three times in a year is the exception, not the norm. Relocating simply comes with the territory, although typically not as frequent.

I have the same sympathy for them as I would for the hockey players. I know people in Ft Mac making 4-5x there what they would make in normal society... driving a dump truck. Boo hoo.
