I'd do the opposite, and try to make sure you get the first win at the very least. Can't blow that one.

To me playing the second goalie against the stronger team is saying you don't have enough confidence to win both games. Brent used to do the same as you suggest and we'd end up losing both games.

Retro gear is literally mentioned in the title of this thread. People just need to lighten up a bit. One mention of something off topic and someone is always up in arms saying, "OH GREAT THE THREAD IS DERAILED AGAIN".

I've always thought on back to backs the backup should play the first one.
That said, this team has no backup goalie.

I think we can win both of these back to backs, so long as our goaltending doesn't let us down.
If we can, that'll relieve some pressure in the race, and won't make beating a really tough Blues a must. We typically don't fare well against the Blues at all.

Any news on player recalls today? The ticker on TSN is currently reporting that the Flames have recalled Wolf, Wotherspoon...and Baertschi. Not sure if I should ignore the other two players or if they're more legit than the Baertschi recall.

This seems like it should be news like 3-4 weeks ago!

No changes noted on the AHL website, so maybe a mistake?

So, are they giving the retro night start next week to Hiller, and the decision will not be dependent on who's playing well?
Truly curious, because with his sweet new pads made seemingly for just the night, it looks like he's been guaranteed that start?
So many questions. Cool gear, though!

Nope, he could absolutely be wearing these on the bench.

Longer than that. Those three were all recalled following the All Star Break on January 26.

Retros ftw.
Leafs suck.
I have a feeling Calgary loses this one.

True. Just seems like a lot to get new pads for a maybe. Anyway, I love the design, it's always fun seeing new goalie gear.

So wait, if they're playing retros tomorrow against the Leafs does that mean Calgary has to wear white retros so that Toronto can play in home blue? This wouldn't be the first time it has happened (wear Calgary wears white against Toronto at home), and I really am not a fan. Just feels like Toronto is given some sort of preferential treatment.

What?
The reason they wore white against Toronto a couple of years ago was because that was the season when the Canucks were celebrating some anniversary (40th?) and wore retro white uniforms at home a few times during the season.
Every time the Nucks wore the whites, the team they were playing only brought their dark uniforms on the road with them, so every home team they played on the trip wore white as well. Most teams (especially Eastern ones) play Calgary and Vancouver on the same trip, so that's that.
Also, that would be lamest "preferential treatment" a team could get. If the colour of your clothes changes the way you play in any meaningful way, there's something wrong.
And, no, the Flames won't be wearing their retro uniforms tomorrow. They were just breaking them in for the Retro-night game next Thursday against the Flyers.
