Monahan is the next Flames legend without doubt. Looks like a veteran, I think his development is further along than Iggy's was at this stage, which is unreal. Seems so comfortable becoming the go to guy for the team now.

One thing that makes things more difficult for Monahan was that Iginla was able to play behind the spotlight of a hot shot star (Fleury) and while he was good. Monahan is our go-to star, though I guess you could argue Gaudreau takes some pressure off. I think Iginla did a it with a lot less talent, but Iginla thrived in that situation (i.e. old saying that if Iginla was struggling, strap 2 monkeys on his back and he'll get 2 goals that game).

Monahan is a incredible..... really feel lucky to have him.

I think Johnny, Bennett, Gio and the overall success of the team have taken most of the spotlight from Monahan. Might be part of the reason why he's not going through the sophmore slump.

IMO anyway.

Pretty exciting. The Flames have their first bona fide No. 1 centre since Joe Nieuwendyk.

Goals aside...he's a game-changer. Hang onto your hats folks.

look at the teams the Flames are tied with, look at their #1 centers, look at their ages,

I don't think many people really grasp what this kid is doing

Best player out of that draft this year although you could make a case for Jones.

I don't know why not. After all, they can believe we got Bennett at 4.
