Move Poirier to the RW and Ferland to the LW and you might have something there. Also I like Stajan on the 4th line personally when he comes back. He's been very good in that role this year. Maybe...
Raymond - Colborne - Poirier
Ferland - Stajan/Granlund - Jooris
Perhaps unlikely that they keep that many first year players but it would be nice to see for a couple of games.

Very interested to see Poirier at the NHL level. According to Brad, has NHL shot and speed. And NHL size. Anything he's lacking? Vision? Passing? Positioning?
Wouldn't mind seeing Jooris sat to find out. With Colborne back to center, seems likely.

From what Treliving and Huska have said, he was needing work on positioning. But IIRC, he was a pretty relied upon player for defensive assignments in junior, but his speed would have helped him cover most players. Maybe getting used to being in position rather than having to get there afterwards. May have been on time in junior, but a little late in pro.
This is pure speculation from a few quotes.

The reports earlier on in the season is that the Flames wanted Poirier to work on his play without the puck.

We'll be able to roll out 4 lines with Poirier and Ferland:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Hudler
Bouma - Backlund - Jones
Raymond - Colborne - Jooris
Ferland - Granlund - Poirier

It is your CP duty to name her Emile -- Emily will also be accepted as an alternate spelling.
Congrats!

For all the talk about Bennett seeing his first action in the NHL this year, I thinking adding Poirier at this time of year makes much more sense. Hope he dresses for at least one or two games so we can see how he does.
P.S. I'm assuming Emile will be wearing #57, which was the number he was assigned at training camp. I believe the last Flames to wear #57 in an NHL game was some guy named BOUMA.

Horses for courses - you call up bottom 6 forwards for bottom 6 forwards being out of the lineup. If it was a top 6 forward, such as Hudler going off for a birth of a child instead of Stajan, Baertschi would get the call

I'm not going to let myself get too excited about this Poirier callup. I'm going to assume Treliving plans to keep him in the minors as long as he can, but wants to see just what he has for evaluation purposes.
WOOOOT POIRIER!! 2015 NHL CHAMPSS!!!

I'm a hippy, so we had a home birth. Some skin to skin with dad in bed this morning to let mom sleep.

Awesome!
Not sure drury will be happy with the ferland call up though. He was bad bad bad for like a 10-15 game stretch.
As somebody said though, two taller guys.
Please please one of them replace Bollig.

All I can think of is Poirer and one side Ferland on the other and Colborne centering the line .

Poirier has 30 points in 42 games as an AHL rookie (effectively; he played 2 games last year in Abbotsford).
Ferland with 15 points in 32 games.

Flames have struggled against the east this year.
Wonder if they think a little more size and an infusion of youth will help on this long trip.

I saw Ferland live in the preseason against Colorado and he scored both goals. They were both goal scorers goals with the second one being a highlight reel cutting through center ice forehand to backhand then going top shelf beating Varlomov like a drum.
My daughter and I will be back for a game when the Flames visit the Can on March 14th, and I am very excited to hopefully see Ferland and and Poirier in the lineup. Early birthday present for my daughter as her birthday is on March 15th...the game will be a nation wide feed and a 8PM start.

Heh, should be a quick jaunt over to New York for them. One advantage of having them over in Adirondack.
