Didn't watch the 3rd period where the colasped happened but I heard its all GlenX's fault for most of the third period goals.... haha

We still control our own destiny. This team has faced adversity before and rose above it. I expect much the same after tonights loss.

Glencross and Stajan were both terrible. Too many mistakes, poor passes and times out of position to count.

Hiller kept us in the game for the first 2 periods. Then came the collapse in the third period where he was hung out to dry.
Brutal effort from players in front of him. We seemed to be a step behind the Kings all night. They kept us hemmed in our own zone for most of the night and was definately the hungrier team.

Didn't see the game but from the comments on here it sounds as though some of our best players from the start of the year, Gaudreau and Gioirdano for instance, are starting to wear down a bit as the season goes on. Neither of these two are used to such heavy lifting so it is no surprise but if we are going to make the playoffs others have to stand up and take some of the strain.
Oh well lose one and move on to smashing the Nucks.

Just wanted to mention that goal by David Jones. That was a thing of pure beauty, just picked it right out of the air.

Whichever line that went up against Toffoli's was terrible.
Assuming that was Stajan/Glenx. They sure stepped up and showed their defensive veteran prowess out there, ah.

LA played like a desperate team tonight. They were hitting anything that moved and especially keyed in on hitting Russell any chance they got. Hiller was good as was Ramo in the short time he was in.
Just wonder how many guys had flu or were recovering from it. This was the first game between the two this year where the Flames got physically manhandled. Game might have been different if the Flames could have established a forecheck. Next time we play them might want to have a few faster guys that can hit like Ferland or Wolf instead of Bollig and also Jooris instead of Stajan. Even those two substitutions would help drive the forecheck. Other than that not too worried as every team has a few games they are dominated in.

I am getting tired of watching the depth veteran players make stupid decisions with the puck repeatedly and not face the consequences. Both Stajan and Glencross should be in the press box against Vancouver. They were just that bad.

FYP. I'm pretty sure I saw different combinations out there against them, with pretty much the same results.
(Also, as the home team the Kings got to pick the matchups.)

Byron had some jam tonight but I feel Wolf would've been better suited. I'd have kept Bollig in too. That fight was so McGrattan esque it was awesome to see. He played with a bit of jam tonight too aside from the fight.
L.A needed that game far more than the Flames did and it showed.
The next string of games is a very slippery slope and the Flames could slide like they did during that eight gamer earlier.
Size is an issue. Not a dire one like some posts I read make it out to be but there is definitely some need for Size with skill.
Glencross had a few shining moments tonight but over all pretty meh. As a vet, he needs to find that next gear because it's time to ramp things up.
Stajan too. Although I don't feel there's much more to give out of him and that's no slight.
Even Beast mode Hiller couldn't stem the tide tonight, cannot hang this one on Hiller, He was what? 2 for 3 on clear cut breakaways tonight?

Ugh...I fell asleep before the end of the 2nd period since it was such a late start for me. Went to bed with the flames winning 2-1, woke up to a 5-3 score. Wha happen?

We got scored on in the dying seconds of the 2nd period for the second game in a row and this time everything came crashing down.

goals in the last minute and first minute of a period are daggers. Both happened last night.

Can't win them all, and the Flames would have known LA would be coming hard. Extremely disappointed to see just how low our give a crap meter was last night, especially after getting run out of our own building by Pittsburgh two games previous. That effort in San Jose makes last night all the more disappointing because we all know what they can do. This team must replicate that effort tomorrow and against Boston, or they very well might be on the outside looking in come Tuesday.

You can't point at two players last night to pin the blame. Giordano and Wideman were just awful as well. Wideman turned over the puck so many times in the defensive zone I lost count. Gadreau and Backlund were both handling the puck like it was a hand grenade at times. It was a total team failure as they simply didn't come to play and it was apparent from the opening faceoff that the Kings wanted this game much more than the Flames did.
This happens in an 82 game season but that's two total stinkers in the last three games so there should be concern especially given the next opponent totally owns the Flames. I almost cringe at how the Flames are going to make the Sedins look like they are 27 again with fresh legs as they always seem to do when the two teams meet.

I still dont think we need to play thier game and go for more size even after this game. What we need is to play to our strengths and find the same speedy players but with higher possession and cycling stats. We arent going to beat the Kings and Anaheim at their own game by adding 1 or 2 more depth thugs.
They can be beaten with speed we have seen it, we just need to hang onto the puck more. Its easier to continue with the style of forward we have than to try to change the whole complexion of the team and style of play. I hate to say it but we could almost get away with a Canucks style circa 2011 minus the flopping and it would be very effective. Our Pacific record is still steller we just need more possesion to go with the counter attack.
