Out of all the teams in the West, Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton have the easiest schedules with only 6 games remaining against playoff teams.

With LA dropping a point, everyone's magic # dropped by 0.5. San Jose losing also gets the Flames a bit closer to a playoff spot.

Another day in the books and the Flames and Wild did not collect the max points so they slide a bit.

With Boston's win today, Buffalo has been officially eliminated from the playoffs.

The Oilers are on their last breath. If they lose in regulation tomorrow in Detroit, they'll be officially eliminated.

Edmonton is now done. It was unfortunate that the Canucks and Sharks won.

With Winnipeg losing, everybody shaves 0.5 off their magic #.

Well that's a bit of an unexpected bonus. Nice that Calgary got the two points when we usually are not good against Anaheim. I'm sure Duck fans aren't feeling too bad as it hurts the Kings.

Find Calgary (or your desired team) on the left column. As you go across the numbers going right, that is the number (combined wins by Calgary and losses of the team that also occupies the square) if it gets to zero means that team can not finish ahead of Calgary (or the team you picked on the left side).

As an example. If Calgary gets 8 wins and Winnipeg amasses 7 losses, Winnipeg can not pass Calgary

Put away your charts and numbers - on Fan 960 this afternoon Steinberg says he thinks the Flames are in. Game, set, match.

So with 15 games left on the schedule the Flames need about 17 points to get into the playoffs. Seems doable to me.

@Fan960Steinberg
Thanks to Western Conference reshuffling, #Flames magic number (now calculated to the Jets) is down to 14.

TOR, COL, PHI, CBJ, COL, DAL, DAL, EDM, ARZ, and WPG.

Those 10 games are ones where I'd say we have a strong chance for a win. Then we still have 5 games vs STL, MIN, NSH, STL, and LA.

NSH and STL are pretty winnable right now

Nm. St Louis has won 3 in a row.

Of all the teams we play until the end if the year, only St Louis and Colorado are above 0.500 in their last 10

Edit: Forgot LA is over 0.500 too

Jets...

Injuries: Buff, Little, Myers, Perrault
Goaltending: Hutchinson has a .879 sv% since Jan 29
Schedule: After Minnesota, Jets have the toughest schedule to close out the season

I think San Jose will end up passing them.

Probably, yes. Seven wins alone without any OT/SOL only gets you 93 points. Almost unheard of to have no OT/SO in 15 games though. Mix in two SO /SOL and we're in I'd bet.

No, a combination of 14 Flames wins + Jets losses.
