Very true. We've seen plenty of them come through the Flames system.
Gillies looks great though and I would rate him and Ortio roughly the same. Gillies' playing style will really suit the NHL. Ortio has been excellent in his brief time in Calgary but I still have some question marks about his consistency in the AHL. Between Gillies' sheer excellence in college and Ortio's slightly sketchy history of inconsistency you can understand why so many people rank the 2 players so near each other. I believe they both project to be starters in the NHL.
Then there is Mason McDonald who has quietly improved his play on a sub par team in the Q. He's still years away from being in the frame, but I firmly believe we have 3 blue-chip goalie prospects in the system. If we're lucky 1 or 2 will pan out.

Ferland might want to actually start doing something in the AHL at some point again. He's been pulling a Reinhart every since he got sent back.
One point in January and none so far in February. Not sure what is going on with him.

Poirier has also been a non-factor lately too for some strange reason.

Post-concussion symptoms? I hope not.

I believe Ferland's been demoted to the 4th line for quite some time now. Hopefully he's still playing well away from the puck, but it's very unfortunate. He's probably the only Flames prospect who has regressed since the beginning of the season, which isn't so bad.
Agreed that Poirier should be higher up. The guy has all the tools to be a successful NHLer and has been very solid in his first AHL season. If he stays healthy, it's going to be hard keeping him off the roster.
Klimchuk should definitely not be 15+ on anyones list.. He's a former first round pick that's still in junior and has been progressing nicely towards his 3rd line LW role. May not have top-6 upside, but he's a jack of all trades type player which is always nice to have. A season or two in the AHL to develop his offense and hope for the best.

Bennett has the potential to be better than those guys, no doubt, but they are doing it in the NHL. Until he can show results in the NHL, they are ahead of him IMO.

Yup, this. Love what Gillies has done in College, love what Mason MacDonald is doing in junior this year as well but goalies more than any other position I take the let's see what they do at the next level approach.

If they're doing in the the NHL they aren't prospects, no?
Love Gaudreau and love what he's been doing in the NHL this year but Bennett will be "the" player for the Flames up front, slightly above Monahan I think.
Even if you think Gaudreau and Bennett are equals, tie goes to the center over the winger.

Totally. I'll give Bennett his due, and even Poirier, but while Gillies is exciting, I'm not pencilling him into any future roster

What tie? Gaudreau is on a 60 pt pace in the NHL.
When Bennett is on a similar pace, I will award him the 'tie' victory.

Like I said, I don't consider Gaudreau a prospect Anymore. He's graduated.

MMF said "If you think they are equals" center > winger.
You don't think they are equals, that's fine, but that's not what MMF was getting at (at least from my interpretation).

Ok, but why are you quoting me? I was replying to someone who did include him?
