Sure, throw in an apple and a yogurt -- both those things individually cost about 50 cents or less. Or bring left overs from your dinner the night before. My wife and I purposely try to make things that will be good as leftovers the next day during my shifts (stir frys, pastas, etc.). That way the cost of your dinner is spread out across three meals (or more, depending on how much left overs you have).

If you like meat that much, buy a turkey or ham and cook that on Sunday night.
For 18 bucks I was able to make enough Chilli for my wife and I that lasted a week, and that is with the premium ground turkey.

Girlfriend and I just had some leftovers for dinner but we're still making a roasted chicken tonight. Lunch for the next few days!

One yogurt, one apple, one banana, tupperware container of assorted raw veggies, home-made cookies, granola bar. That's pretty much my lunch every single day, with variance on the fruit, or sometimes with store-bought cookies, which are much more expensive. I guarantee that costs less than 5 bucks, and it tastes great. I have meat at supper, I don't feel the need for it at lunch.
Not only did I save a bunch of money when I started using this lunch, but the weight started coming off pretty nicely as well.

Home made spaghetti
chilli
wieners and beans on toast
perogies and sausage
Ham and cheese sandwich with a can of soup
All of the above require some preparation, which is why I often get lazy.
I think the bigger question, where are you getting a steak sandwich for $10 including tip?

Same here. A yogurt, some cottage cheese, a container of veggies and 1-2 sandwiches (of whatever meat or PB&J I feel like that day). Occasionally toss one of those tiny chocolate bars in, or a banana. Lots of room for variety in there, too. Trail mix makes a nice addition.

Work from home; no commute costs, no going out for lunch, no stopping at Tims.

Real mature.
My leaking point is eating out for dinner and wine. Wouldn't do it much if it was me on my own but it's nice to go out for dinner or share a bottle of wine with the gf.
I take lunch 95% of the time, I don't have cable, I've negotiated my cell phone, got the cheapest car insurance I could...I've got most of the holes plugged.
You could also say travel and skiing but I don't consider those leaking points - those are priorities.

I know I spend a lot on eating out, but what sort of lunches do you guys bring that are in the $3-4 range? I can get a steak sandwich at the pub, with tip it is $10. If I pack lunch, the deli meat for my two sandwiches is ~$6-7, not counting bread, lettuce, condiments ( I know that is very little cuz it last for so many sandwiches). Plus add in whatever value you put on your time and it seems like you are coming out ahead by eating a $10 steak sandwich, or paying $8 at subway.

Leftovers. Whenever we cook we cook for 3-4. Helps to not have kids to eat said leftovers.
