It's a slap in the face if he's earned it in practice and still sits.

Glencross sure gets a lot flack on this board. Any of our LWs will get destroyed trying to fill in on his assigments. I want playoffs and this could hurt.

No he's not the best LW. Gaudreau is. Johnny won't be able to fill in defensively but that's only half the game.

I'd prefer his nickname return to the glorious Scoreface, but he hasn't earned that title in the past two seasons.
If GlenX has a problem with his nickname, then he knows what to do.
Also, while Glencross may be our 2nd best LW, it doesn't seem so bad with the abundance of LWers we have to fill in. It'd be a different situation if one of the top 4 D were out for any period of time.

Yeah, only a few of us can attest to Raymond's efforts in practice. It's a hard thing to judge that way.
I think Poirier has these attributes as well and worth to see if he can apply them against mid-season form NHLers.
And him being left-handed, although usually a RW, playing the left side shouldn't hinder him too much.

I think he gets in the next game like you as well, working hard in practice and a game are two very different things. I don't want to come off like I have a hate on for Raymond, I actually liked the signing but he has been really really horrible in the games I have watched. I have not been able to watch that much hockey this season and he just does not fit the mold of player Hartley, Treliving or Burke want on this team. I say he is gone sometime this year.

Coaches place a lot of emphasis on practice, way more than we think.

Maybe I'm reaching but between Baertchi and Poirier - which player would the team (and maybe others) potentially want to get a better handle on before the deadline?

Raymond was decent in the game against Detroit. I know - passes to no one, but at least he was driving the puck, and I don't think any of those missed passes led to a good chance the other way. Plus, for all we know, the D was supposed to be there.
But he was terrible the next game (-3 and 11 minutes) and Hartley acted accordingly.
That said, he seems like a guy who can turn it around somewhat. The expectations need to be more realistic though - he's never scored over 25 and typically is a 15 goal guy. I couldn't understand why his 22 pts in 46 games for the Canucks was so horrible they cut him loose but 45 pts in 82 games for the Leafs was so fantastic.

This was all I needed to know. Anything Oilers related should be burned. Updated OP

Glencross seems like a guy who the team would give a nickname - have they ever?
Other than Big Ern, are there any team given names on this team (I doubt the boys call Gaudreau Johnny Hockey unless they are ribbing him)?

Both similar players... I think Raymond would be an All Star in the AHL.
Neither replace what Glencross brings.

Sven is more apart of the future and that's what we're trying to accomplish is make the playoffs but also make room for the guys who will help us be cup contenders in a couple years.

I just read that Hudler is called Happy. That's awesome.

I like Ferland, but in the mantra of "always earned never given" he hasn't earned a call up. If anyone, Sven or Porier have earned it.
I think most likely Raymond draws back in.

What happened to Ferland anyway? He was ripping it up before his callup, performed well here (albeit without points to show for it), but doesn't seem to have picked up where he left off down south. Did Poirier's return and Sven's resurgence steal his minutes? Anyone who watches the A care to comment?

Ferland's not putting up points is a negative but it isn't always the most important aspect.
