This is .885 SV% Mike Smith.

If we don't take advantage then we've got big problems. The Yotes have laid down for a lot of opponents this season (a lot of blowout losses) so we'd better get on them early.

Doan is out for todays game as well, so we really should win this game.

Not that I don't like Orito, I think he will be very good, but he's played one game this year. Let's give it a little while before we start saying that he's better than Ramo/Hiller. He very well could crap the bed tonight. Hope not though. I love what I've seen so far, so let's see if he keeps it up.

But he was pretty dang good last year too and has been awesome in the AHL.. Hard not to get excited about this guy. Willing to bet if we redid the goalie runoff poll, Ortio would win by quite a lot.

Perhaps doolins or g sport on Granville. Trevor the part owner at doulins is a flames fan.

We've seen Ortio be inconsistent in the past though. However, there's no denying that his ability to absorb pucks in a one game sample has already shown superior to Ramo and Hiller this season. He's got his angles down and doesn't let out juicy rebounds, which is nice to watch for a change.

That being said it was still one game.

Scrivens stopped 56 shots in his debut with Edmonton. Now he's the issue. Suit me up and I might have one good game, over 40 is entirely different.

Yes, it's only one game, but some of us have been watching him closely in Adirondack as well (Drury maybe a little too closely ) and he has been lights out all season, after the awful first 5 games or so.

Not saying I'm ready to give him the starting job or anything, but I am not surprised that he looked as good as he did last game and I am looking forward to tonight's game as well (and hopefully a few more before he goes back down).

And we all knew from his prior work that that game was an outlier (well, everyone outside of Edmonton, anyway)

I am watching Diaz with interest.

I expect a trade involving the departure of one of our 7 d. I don't know if they are showcasing Diaz to be included in a trade, or if they are giving him more ice in case we remove another part and he moves up into a regular spot.

But I expect a move to happen before the deadline.

It's different when you have the Edmonton Oilers playing in front of you. It's always different. Eventually any goalie, no matter how competitive, is eventually going to say 'Nope. #### this' and fold, trying to backstop that disaster.

Also... Sorry to be nitpicky, but I'm pretty sure Shore (heh) is 23, not 21.
nvm just re-read and realised you were talking about age...

If you look at the stats Haynes tweeted about the 3rd pairing and how statistically, Smid is looking like the problem. I personally am starting to believe Smid is the issue. For me, its no surprise to see him boast the worst +/- on the team.

If we are moving any d-men out of the team, he is the first to go.

And with so many teams looking for defensemen, I think we could get a decent return for him.

I like Smid, but he hasn't fit into the team style, nor has he played all that well. I wouldn't mind getting a return for him and run with the other 6 with Wotherspoon as the injury fill-in, at least until we can grab someone else.

I'd do that. Hell we could always sign Sarich if we get in an injury pinch..

Smid is a heart and soul guy, but for a transition team like the flames, he's too slow, can't make a pass and has no offensive tools.

And Engelland. I don't know what we're going to do about that third pairing. I'm starting to wonder why we haven't seen Wotherspoon yet, both Smid and Engelland have been just....awful.

How the flames are doing has no bearing on whether or not Wotherspoon is ready
