Just finished reading a bunch of real homerific comments in the game thread about the two "controversial" calls. Just commenting on that.

How many of those PPGs came in the last 3 minutes during a 6-on-4 or during OT? I'd assume at least a few.

Our PP has been bad - and cold - lately.

0/4 Today
0/3 vs Islanders
1/5 vs Oilers
0/2 vs Kings
0/3 vs Oilers

So in the last five games, our only power play goal was against the Oilers. That's also a mere 5.8% on the PP over five games. It just hasn't looked good for a while. And it's not a lack of skill, because this team has skill. What they lack is any sign of a PP system. And we know there's a system in place because we see it during 6-on-5s. But our PPs just tend to look bad and produce nothing.

I like Glencross

He does make a lot of bad passes and sometimes takes dumb penalties. But when he's on the ice there's always a chance he can score a goal.

And the mask goal was absolutely the right call.

Just a couple bad breaks went against the Flames in the final push there, it happens, but the pitchforks for the refs is a bit much.
The problem is when every bad call goes against the flames when they play the wings. Also, when Mrazek's mask came off the face off should have been inside the zone, that's 10 to 20 seconds right there, and on the incorrect offside, which wasn't offside, loses another 10 to 20 more seconds, add them up and you missed a good 20 to 40 seconds of offensive zone chances.
Finally, should have been a 5 on 3 when the puck was shot over the glass. Another "bad break", also went against the Flames.
Not the only reason we lost, but certainly hurt the comeback.

The faceoff outside the zone after the mask play confused me as well, but maybe there's a rule I wasn't aware of. I always thought it was in the zone for sure.

Very frustrating game. Three bad breaks against us in the last couple minutes. It's not so much the break itself, but the lost time and scoring opportunities that come from it.

First time I've ever seen anything thrown on the ice at the dome.

No, it wasn't. You were commenting on two plays and giving your thoughts about it and also labeling anyone who saw it different as a bunch of homers. That's two things.

Tough break on the offside. But really is a non-issue because they could have scored or it could have not. Goalie obviously heard the whistle and gave up.

Helmet incident was the right call. But is a goal if the helmet doesn't come off in my my mind due to the defenceman there.

It is an issue because the play would have still been in the offensive zone, not a face off outside ( which they won and sent down the ice).

Johnny, Colborne and Jooris line didn't look all that great. Loved Backlund's game!
