I disagree.
I think Ferland has more offensive potential, but right now I have a hard time seeing Ferland being the better offensive player.
Michael Ferland - 9 games, 0 goals, 1 assist.
Lance Bouma - 27 games, 5 goals, 4 assists.

I want to see Ferland stay in the line up but there's no way you sit Bouma.
The team is preaching hard work and accountability as the DNA of the team's culture, and Bouma exemplifies these qualities.
He'll never put up big points but he always hustles, will go through walls for teammates/coaches, blocks an insane amount of shots and plays with a broken face. This is the kind of effort I'd like the rookies to see and follow.
Ferland for Bollig sounds a lot better to me at this point.

Ferland's is 100% a better offensive player than Bouma. Displaying his stat sheet won't change my mind, I've seen almost every game this season. Ferland could have easily have 5+ points already.

Like I said, Ferland has more offensive potential long term (IMO), but he doesn't have a goal yet. Bouma has 5 goals and 4 assists (This year). He has shown more offensive potential at the NHL level so far.
Either way, they shouldn't be in competition for the same spot. If Ferland sticks he should be playing on the 3rd line or higher.
Bouma already fills our need on the 4th line.

Bouma is a great shot blocker

I see Ferland as an excellent 3rd line winger if he continues to develop well, playing with Backlund and possibly Byron on RW as a 2 way third line with definite upside. Wait where does Jooris fit in, and Granlund? Man we are deep at center I don't even know what to think anymore. I feel like we should try to convert Granlund or Jooris to RW

I love Ferland - and I bet the Flames LOVE Ferland too. However, there is no way the Flames are going to sit Bouma out for anyone in the lineup.
Ferland goes in for Bollig, or perhaps Granlund who has cooled off somewhat. Outside of that, I think Ferland is going to get sent down when Colborne is activated.
Tough decisions ahead for both Hartley and Treliving to make.

Ferland replaces Bollig not Bouma. Ferland Stajan Bouma on the 4th line sounds much better than Bollig Stajan Bouma. Bollig is too slow and Ferland hits more from what I've seen and forechecks better.

Colborne joins Dec 9th practice:
Kristen Odland @KristenOdlandCH
C Joe Colborne (wrist) wearing a blue jersey with the team this morning in Toronto. Should see him at some point this trip.
blue jersey means no-contact for the Flames

I was fine with the Bollig trade when it happened but they really do need to move him to another team for a draft pick. Just no room.

I agree. I think McGrattan is really valuable to the team in the locker room and during practices, so I'd prefer to see him as a permanent 13th forward even if he never plays.
See if you can get anything for Bollig and waive him if need be.

Ugh
@KristenOdlandCH: Joe Colborne said today that it’s not about the strength of his wrist or regaining his conditioning. It's about playing with no pain.
