Most of these stats also ignore PP results for some very good reasons; but the results of the PP have a major impact on the game as any fan can tell.
A team that can cash in on the PP at an above avg % can over compensate for a lot of 5v5 deficiences

I've often wondered if it would be possible to create some kind of weighted "shot/chance" stats that would be similar to baseballs slugging pct.
We all know some shots (or even missed/blocked shots) are worth much more than others in determining who is controlling the play.
For example some shots might be worth 2 or 3 on this schedule while others that have no chance of creating a goal would be worth less.
Would be hard to standardize and would be subject to objectivity I suppose, but to me it would be one way to really measure who is getting the best of the play.

Flames have 91 PP's for and have been shorthanded 66 times. So they play a lot of time with a man advantage. No idea if that is something sustainable or not.

They are also extremely good 4 on 4.

They also block a billion shots which I'm confident have a 0% chance of being a goal, but none of that is factored into Corsi.

Are they getting lucky? Yes in all likelihood. Are they are a terrible team? No.

To bad they don't award Draft picks based on Corsi. We could draft 4th overall. And enjoy our current position in the standings!!
