You have to throw in a token Leafs prospect to keep interest in the Toronto market.

i wonder how they go about setting the lineups? do they look at guys who have played together in the past? guys with similar type of games? disimilar types of games?

for somewhat personal reasons, i am following point more closely than the other players in camp

exactly. I honestly think that's the only reason he's there.

I would lean towards no. Although he's struggling this year, he won the Calder trophy last year will play a big part in the Avs trying to turn this season around. Would love if Klimchuk played on his line at the WJCs though. He could learn a lot.

I get the Gauthier hate because quite frankly I don't think there should be any room for pure "niche" players at a best on best tournament, and the skills that he can provide (primarily defensive play and faceoff ability) can be matched and exceeded by superior all around players (Sam Reinhart for example).

What I don't understand is the disdain for Chris Bigras.
I get that Bigras struggled during last years tournament (as did many others), but based purely on his play this season he deserves at the very least to be invited to camp considering he is playing a point per game pace.

I think he was being facetious....pretty sure the Avs will not be letting him go.

Bigras is a smooth skating defensive Dman, very underrated prospect.

Nice to hear.............

Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman
Really liked what Brandon Hickey-CGY has shown. Freshman 6-2 D plays all situations effectively.

Edit: whooooops, thought he was at this camp. My bad.

Klimchuk had a goal in a 10-3 result against the CIS All-Stars in a camp game yesterday.

Klimchuk with another goal today in a 6-0 victory in the rematch against the CIS all-stars.

Is it just me or is there a whole lot less media coverage on the camp this season? Usually I'm hearing updates constantly and I'm really having to dig deep to find anything this year. I don't even know when final rosters are going to be announced!

Mckenzie kind of just answered my question!

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 41s42 seconds ago Canada's national junior team will make an unspecified number of cuts today but won't get down to final roster until later in the week.

Tsn is pretty invested in this, so they have had good coverage thus far......

Nice to see a hometown kid leading the scoring thus far.

Klimchuk is the first name to be cut

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Per @markhmasters, Morgan Klimchuk has been cut by Team CAN.

Stephen Whyno @SWhyno
Canada cuts Travis Sanheim. D-man was first round pick of Flyers.
