If I were the owner of Steam, I wouldn't allow the game to be sold on my service either. Asking the users what they think is a good idea. Obviously most people would probably be opposed.

This game looks stupid and I would never play it but banning it seems silly. I've seen similar if not more disturbing 'art' depicting serial killers and mass murderers on television and in movies - Se7en comes to mind. Just educate your kids and take the time to learn what it is your child is doing on the computer.

Nobody is "banning" it. Valve is refusing to sell it from their store. There's a huge difference. If you own a shop, you're under no obligation to sell a particular product if you think it would cause harm to your brand's reputation. That's exactly what is happening here.

I didn't say anybody did ban it - there were several mentions in this thread of banning. I was just replying to those.

It's back on Steam Greenlight. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=356532461

Gabe sent the devs a message.

Hatred is More Extreme Than You Could Possibly Imagine

Quote:
*Heavy metal riffs swell as a gun is cocked and a pair of rad shades are donned*

Hello, you pansies. This is an interruption of your regularly scheduled feature. We, the super tough badass studio behind Hatred, have taken control.

"Now where the heck did I put my gun's trench coat?"
Yeah, we've been banned from Steam. We'll use that as a badge of honor. Like when a bad movie uses quotes from unfavorable reviews in its promotional material. That'll show them all to #### with us. That's right, I said "####". We're very edgy and don't you forget it!

How edgy are we? By now you might know that we follow a Neo-Nazi Facebook group. When everyone in the biased gaming media got worked up in a tizzy about this, we responded by explaining that we weren't openly endorsing Neo-Nazis. We just wanted to use the radical group's writing as one of our only sources of geopolitical news. It's really not that big of a deal you wimps!

You might have also heard that several of our employees have been linked to other hate groups. If that offends your weenie liberal sensibilities, so be it.
Quote:
Perhaps you saw the trailer for our game. A super cool white man in trench coat, his long poorly modeled hair jittering as he mumbles to himself in the most generic tough guy voice imaginable. A shooting spree with multiple drawn out executions of unarmed civilians. Our amazing tagline: "The death is coming Q2 2015".

Most people compare our game to Postal. Uh, no. That series has too much self-awareness for our taste. Even the first Postal game, the most grim and straightforward effort, featured silly objectives such as killing Santa and taking out an entire marching band. Shootings are not meant to be portrayed as funny or over the top. They are very cool, and should be as graphic and realistic as possible for maximum controversy.
Quote:
When the death is coming Q2 2015 your soul will be curbstomped by such brutality as:

Multiple twisted, sadistic shooting spree locations including a hospital, a helpless baby and puppy storage facility, and ice world.

A button dedicated to yelling "No one understands me!"

Our unique combo meter. When you get your first kill, the word #### appears in the center of your display. With every additional innocent that you massacre, the word grows slightly larger. Keep the combo going until it fills the screen!

The game's constantly looping theme song, our audio guy smacking a pile of ground beef with a VHS copy of Cannibal Holocaust.

That game is messed. I had a hard time playing that on level in COD where you shoot up the airport. I don't know how people can play this.

This debate about violence in video games has been going on for almost 40 years. People used to be sickened by this game:

But even with controversy, we have evolved to games like Hatred.

I recall a few years ago there was a rape simulator game released in Japan that was pretty controversial.
