I also don't think Colborne outperforming his whopper of a $1,2M contract would be expecting that much, let alone Byron and his 600k contract.
Speaking more generally this is one of those seemingly numbers-based arguments that really is just a way of saying "I think our team sucks". "Better than their contracts" is a completely arbitrary measuring stick.
It's also a meaningless point. Even if every single player is slighty "better than their contracts", we would still be a piss-poor team. But if, say, Gaudreau and Monahan suddenly combine for 150 points, we'll go up the standings like a rocket.
