Searched for a picture of my character, yeesh most of them would belong in a cartoon version of the late YLYL thread. Here's me in my armored suit:

Apparently I'm an intergalactic bounty hunter who fights space pirates.
22 is the smallest of the 3 games so far. First game had 25 players with 5 mafia and a third-party serial killer for 6 scum total. Second game had 30 players with two sets of 4 for 8 total scum. I would expect either 5 or 6 scum in this game.

Please, we have to save my little Pittoo from the Darkness! Master Hand and the Darkness have to be stopped so I can get him back. I don't know what I would do without him.

I also hear roasted Darkness scum are absolutely delicious with a side of BBQ sauce. I can't wait to try some.

Well, we need to figure out how we want to do this Day 1 lynch.

Any thoughts? Random? The character from the worst game/console?

Legomans random coin flip thing he did in the last game is probably the more fair option. He even flipped a mafia member

Yeah but who "flips the coin"? And how do we know it's not just scum and they "randomly" landed on a townie?

I understand there's no really rhyme or reason for the pick on day 1. Not really sure how to get around that though

Have we heard from Squiggs?

If everyone else has said something and he hasn't, that might be an option. Keep active players around since it makes it more fun.

Well I am going to vote for squiggs96 because he hasn't revealed who he is yet and that is as good of reason as any we will come up with. It also puts me at the opposite end of the list. Also good to vote out the longest name as typing out long names gets tiring.

Little Mac takes out Squigs with with a star punch

vote squiggs96

One thing is we should stop lynching with one or two votes to go to give the dying person a chance to give any info before they are lynched. I will be advocating to lynch anyone who does not follow this process.

I like that ine of thinking, but maybe give people a little more chance to post. No need to rush this.

I agree that it raises suspicion. We do not need to rush the decisions. Apply the pressure, and gauge the response.

We should aim to get people involved in the discussions. So, as the King of Dream Land, the royal strategy shall be that if I do not have a better reason to vote for someone, I am going to vote for the person with the lowest post count a few days into each day. So post more, subjects!

Death to the darkness!

I was starting to think the same thing as Ness (Rathji), for us to pick the worst/least favourite character and then its really nothing personal, just a random selection.

But on the other hand, squiggs not revealing yet seems odd. I think I'll wait it out for squiggs to come back and see why no character reveal yet. I'm wondering if they think the character is still somehow related to your role (though it was pretty clearly told it was not), so maybe that is why there is no reveal yet?

Not really sure, just thinking out loud in this situation as we have virtually nothing to go on at this point.

It was a bit odd that we were all revealing and he didn't, but Mazrim has also said character names don't matter so I don't think he would have anything to hide in that regard. Like I said, just odd.

I've said this each game, but keeping inactive players around is usually a burden to the town. They don't provide information and give mafia an unnecessary way of hiding by just being silent. Without good cause I'll be sending my vote for someone inactive the first couple days. Puxlot has noted she's away though.

With that said it's first day and no information out so I'm not expecting a super ton of posts this weekend by everyone.

What I learned from the last few games is that all of my assumptions were wrong so random seems to be the way.
I was certain I knew who the mafia were after the second day or so but when Mazrim let us guess the best any of us could do was 2/8 and most had 1/8 or less. All of us had worse results than a random number generator.

The problem with a random number generator is that the evil darkness could easily rig one and claim their order is actually random.

For me day one is tricky because we're trying to find a balance between a random lynch without discussion and a day-one-from-last-game clusterfata. Even discussion and disagreement on how to go about the first lynch can become useful when looking back in the future.

The only problem I see with random lynch based on (least) favorite characters is that it can also be influenced by the mafia. A few extra votes on one character from them would be enough to tilt it in their favor.

That said, I would be more in favor of lynching a less active poster, perhaps in a couple days time to be fair. The counter-argument is of course that mafia could add in a few random thoughts here and there to boost their post count and avoid the lynch. But, until I hear or think of a better strategy, that's my line of thinking.

I agree with the least favourite idea being more flawed than simply a random choice.

Another counterargument to voting for inactive players is that UCB posted a post-count list a few days into the last game, and the top 10 posters and bottom 10 posters each had two mafia among them. However, the point is to just boost the amount of posts/discussion in the thread to be able to make better decisions.

That's true, but by keeping active players it does force the mafia to post as well. Hopefully we are able to see contradictions and suspicious activity down the line from their posts. At the same time with an active town it's more likely we end with people who have following the game more "in-depth" at the end to give us the best chances as opposed to someone just jumping on bandwagons that in some cases the mafia may be. I'm not suggesting that inactive players are mafia, just that lynching them is less detrimental than an active town person in most situations.

But hopefully everyone is able to meet the 1 post per day rule and this is a non-issue.
