The worst part of depression is the stigma that follows it around. If you just talk with someone, it helps. You need a sounding board to be able to process things, and hopefully be able to deal with them. Unfortunately, people don't reach out and this happens.

Very sad...mental health does not get the respect it deserves. Often times, the strongest people battle the longest with little to no support due to the stigma of mental illness. Times are changing but is sad to see another suicide.

He didn't just have depression issues, he also had addiction and financial issues. That is so much to overcome for any individual, and despite the issuse he was still one of the great talents of the last 30 years. He really gave his all to the fans even as he fought through his issues, which makes him a remarkable man as well as a remarkable talent. He will be missed.

shed a tear for George Carlin when he died...I have a matching tear for Robin. I literally cant count the number of times he had me howling in laughter.
Legend.

Comic genius. Thought provoking with his stand up and his personal touch that he added to his several movie characters. This lousy news just plain sucks.
This is completely out of left field, and it's a far more depressing Monday than I would have expected even given the news of who it was and how it happened. There was some strange sort of purity surrounding Robin Williams for me, and this report hits harder than most.
What I love about CP is that right away I knew this would be a place to see YT clips of him at his best, unlike my Facebook and Twitter timelines where everyone is all of a sudden a psychaiatrist or mental health expert. I think I'll spend the rest of the night in here.
Also, for anyone who is as big a fan of Marc Maron's podcast as I am, he just tweeted: "We will re-post the @WTFpod with Robin Williams from April 2010 within the hour."
It's a good one.
