I was told by the dealership that the z71 package actually adds some pounds to your max towing capability.

My Dad swears by GMC, it's pretty nice, it rides well and has lots of power for towing. My brother drives an F150, he has 3 three young children to deal with and he needs interior space....I'm a Ford guy, but that's only because the '79 Ford 3/4 ton SuperCab is the best truck ever made...but I digress

If I was you I'd skip the Dodge and look at the other two and see which one fits your family best.
