Sounds like there were pretty strong rumours that we were close to trading for Ribeiro and a 1st rounder but Ribeiro wouldn't waive to come here.
They also said we had a similar deal to take Can Ward off the Carolina books along with a 1st rounder. I don't believe we heard why that didn't work out.
Too bad, a Brendan Perlini sure would have looked swell in Flames' silks. Or a Haydn Fluery in Carolina's case. No guarantee we would have made those selections of course.

Carolina wouldn't go for the ward + 1st deal.
Wonder if Carolina would have gone for a 2nd + Ward deal.
After watching the videos I wonder if Conroy was laying down misinformation when he mentioned that he and Treliving had different guys at number one. Seems like they both wanted Bennett.
Wouldn't surprise me if Treliving would've taken Ekblad #1 and Bennett #2 and Conroy had Bennett #1.

Sabres behind the scenes draft video! Pretty interesting, confirms what I thought, that Reinhart was their guy all along so losing the lottery really had no impact.
