I just want a guy or two to come in for a year or two, be a good mentor(s) to the young guys, while getting us to the cap floor and helping us to be hardworking and entertaining, no matter what the results may be. The Flames won't win a lot of games, but if we can walk away at the end of each loss and be proud of their efforts, and excited for the young talent developing, then it will be worth it.

1) Stastny - legit top 6 center, young enough to be a big part of the team for a few years
2) Niskanen - could be the number 3 guy for us for the next 5 years
3) TJ Brennan - has completely flown under the radar, could become a real player
4) Vrbata - replaces Cammalleri's offense, can be a great leader and give us strength on the right side
5) Del Zotto - he's 24. he's regressed a bit but being in the position we're in, why not take a flyer and see if a change of scenery can reinvigorate a guy who was once very highly touted.
Also worthy of note: Jamie McBain, Mathieu Perreault, Devin Setoguchi
Most intriguing goaltending options:
Jonas Hiller
Thomas Greiss
Anders Lindback

I don't really have any specific names in mind but for the 2014-15 season I'd be looking for guys with the right attitude and character, ideally players with the following attributes:
- compete level
- intensity
- experience
- ideally a Cup or SCF experience
- leadership
I think if we can plug some gaps with these kind of players we can balance out our youth a bit and have another year of exciting hockey, and who knows maybe even a good enough rally to be in the conversation for a playoff spot.
In any case I want to get some good guys in the locker room that just reinforce the identity Hartley, Burke and now Treliving are looking to forge.

Any right handed defenseman that will sign with us. But lets not kid ourselves. We are not going to be on the radar of any free agent or any player that has control of where they land. Mike Freakin' Riberio refused to waive to come here for crying out loud. Timing just isn't right for free agents. Maybe when the new building is complete and the team is winning more than it is losing, but we're probably just above Edmonton as a NHL destination for players that control their destiny.

Wes Gilbertson throws out a couple interesting names...
Brett Bellemore 6-foot-4 and 225 lb..... RH Dman
Leo Komarov 5-foot-11 and 198 lb... Tied for Moscow Dynamo's team lead with 34 points (12G, 22A) last season

Agreed. My list was for players they should pursue or that we need, but frankly, if we got even one on my list I'd be pretty happy. Gonna be a lot more youth in the lineup this year I think, which is fine, but we will likely be much worse than last year.

I expect the flames to be pretty quiet today and then try their hands at some value signings when the dust settles.
I am curious if they go fa or thru trade to get to the cap floor.

If it weren't for the bollig trade, I would have liked kamorov. He's a non-stop hitter, basically as good as bouma in my view.

Already made my list on page 1. As for if the flames will sign anybody today, I think they will take their time and at most sign a backup goalie.
