The player who was offside didn't play the ball. (Which is why Ronaldo didn't try to get the pass, he knew the play would have been called off.)

Seems like he shouted himself off the field, the ref didn't look like he was going to pull out the red before he started screaming.

It looked like Coentrao (I think that was him) was also offside when he took the original pass
