But their distaste of the old rich white men power structure seems to have trumped the religious card in recent elections, except for specific ballot initiatives like gay marriage. And by far the biggest issue to get the hispanic vote is immigration reform, which the conservative base is hell bent against (it's the main reason why Cantor lost his primary)

There's a lot of extremely religious black communities too that still never vote Republican

Yeah, I just don't think it's going to be as lopsided as people think.

Immigration reform is the trump card here. Whoever manages to get it done will have a reliable Latin vote for awhile. GOP can't be on the good side of the issue because they've already firmly entrenched their opposition. Dumb.

Obama won 71% of the Hispanic vote in 2012. Going back as far as 1980 (the earliest year I could find available data), the Republicans have consistently lost that demographic group. The closest they ever came was in 2004 when Hispanics voted for Kerry over Bush by a 58-40 margin. Every other election in the last 34 years has been even more lopsided.

Most of the religious right are protestants and Hispanics tend to be Catholics. Fundamentalist protestants tend to have a pathological hatred for Catholics going all the way back the colonial times and the wars between England and France.

That hatred has mostly been shown in Ireland with the Catholics being subjugated by the Orangemen. In the 19th and the first half of the 20th century the Orangemen ran politics in English Canada and the States. That was one of the reasons the election of Kennedy was such a big deal. The secularization of Canada has mostly made this organization redundant.

Hillary is unfortunately going to walk into the white house un-oppossed.
No matter who the Republicans nominate and no matter how crazy the Presidential election will be within 5 points.

It would be a good thing for Hillary to become president. Assuming her politics and leadership are anything like Bill's the US and the world will be lucky. Bill was one of the great presidents of the 20th century in my opinion.
