Yeah this kind of baffles me more than anything. With his slight frame and athleticism you'd think he would have spent a few weeks beforehand pumping out at least a few.

I think the interview process is to reveal if there are any red flags, or reasons why you shouldn't take a guy. I doubt you draft a kid higher (especially at #4) just because he's a good kid or does a good interview. I think you take the more talented guy (or the guy with more upside) 10 times out of 10.

Of course, if you have two guys who are pretty equal, you probably take the guy you liked better during the interview.

P.S. Can you imagine an 18-year old Bouwmeester doing one of these?!?

On the Fan this morning, Boomer said he recevied a text from a long time Calgary media member that said Gary Roberts couldn't to a pull up at his first Flames camp. He turned out alright.

LA fans also said Doughty couldn't do one at their rookie training camp.

Craig Button mentioned that on TSN on Saturday too.

I don't think CHL players have enough time to spend in the weight room or rest during the season with the amount of minutes and games they play. It's one reason why guys coming out of U.S. hockey and NCAA are often more developed physically.

Not surprised. Doughty went into rookie camp in shape, but his conditioning and weight were question marks heading into the draft. He pretty much had to lose a lot of weight between the finish of his OHL season and the start of training camp. That's going to lead to a loss of strength and he's pulling up a lot of pounds.
