Have at could be a good pick up

3rd rounder to the Sharks for aha last and a 2nd?

Sharks move down 15 or so spots and the flames get a vet that gets them to the floor and a third 2nd round pick eating all the cap space and saves the owners money. Let home try and earn another payday and trade him at the deadline

One qualification to all that though is that the rules are significantly different in regular season and the post season. If your team's regular season success is based on playing for ties and/or winning shootouts, then I guess you have to accept you aren't going to win in the playoffs with what you have.
Don't Marleau and Thornton have a decent sized sample of poor playoff appearances?

Is a decade not enough?

Hasn't Philly been rumored to have serious interest in Boyle if the Sharks were not going to bring him back.

They have 5 series wins in the last 5 seasons. That means their average playoff appearance is between 5th and 8th best in the league. Average.

Don't have time to look it up. But I would guess only Bos, Chi, and LA have done better in the playoffs (maybe Pit, and I think Mtl might have just tied them yesterday). So they are still around the 5th best playoff team in the league over the past 5 years by that measure.

Not Poor, It could just be better.

Playoffs and regular season are two totally different aspects of the game. The Sharks usually start out well and seem to run out of gas at the end whereas the Kings seem to hit the stride late and push hard into the playoffs with Sutter behind the bench. It's kind of funny looking back now when the Sharks fired Sutter after having such a horrendous start to the season that year. If maybe the Sharks management didn't fire Sutter, they might have gone to the finals the first time and maybe could've won the Stanley Cup that year instead of the Flames getting to the Finals.
